About this audiobook
A magical beanstalk leads to a GIANT surprise in book four of Ursula Vernon's critically acclaimed Hamster Princess series. Harriet Hamsterbone doesn't go looking for trouble. Somehow it always finds her. So she isn't completely shocked when a salesman attempts to sell her some magic beans, or when one of those beans grows into a towering beanstalk leading up into the clouds. But even Harriet is surprised to find a giant castle-complete with one very poetically challenged giant-at the top of it. And she certainly never thought she would make a new friend named Strings who is half harp, half hamster. But Strings isn't the giant's guest-she and a rather large goose are his prisoners! This calls for a heroic rescue, and Harriet is just the hamster for the job.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Very cute! While I think Ursula Vernon's books are best enjoyed in a more visual format since they're loaded with fun illustrations, the narrator of this book did a fantastic job with all of the character's voices. It's fun hearing a more "Girl Power!" take on Jack and the Beanstalk and how the magical harp has dreams of starting her own rock band.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Oh Harriet, how delightful your every adventure is. And Wilbur! Such unexpected developments in your giant fighting powers! And Ursula, for real? a Harpster? Hilarious!
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5After Ratpunzel, Harriet’s next adventure involves magic beans, a giant bunny and a hamster who wants to form a band. There is something very soothing about making tea. You have to concentrate on the whole process, and then you have tea. Even someone as decisive as Harriet had to make tea sometimes and think things through.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Lovely - light and interesting. Harriet sort of accidentally gets a magic bean (I don't really understand the salesman), which of course leads to a magic beanstalk and a castle in the clouds...but this being an Ursula Vernon story, the normal course of events is...not really normal. A harpster - magical combination of hamster and harp; a giant goose that lays normal brown eggs; some extremely funky boots that Harriet gets way too close to. A fall, a thrown-out back, and some quick talking to solve everything...Wilbur is very useful here. Just what I needed today.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5HARPSTER! Yes, good.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5*somewhat spoilery review*I adore Vernon's writing, and am particularly fond of the Harriet Hamster series, and this story did not disappoint in any way. The quirky extra details are often the things that really make the stories for me -- the rescue of the harp/hamster hybrid character who is all about the heavy rock/metal music, and the basic genderqueer nature of battle quails are the ones that come to mind here. As with the previous three books, fairy tales aimed squarely at pre-teen girls which are about heroism without the requisite romance sub-plot are a delight to read, and I'm so happy that Vernon is continuing to write for this market.
