Work from home…

Learn how to better balance work and your personal life while your home is also your office (and classroom, and more). Waking up early to run, read, write, or participate in any other health and happiness activity of your choice, is one of the keys to staying sane while cooped up indoors.

Descrição

Mornings are a madcap time for many of us. We wake up in a haze - often after hitting snooze a few times. Then we rush around to get ready and out the door so we can officially start the day. Before we know it, hours have slipped by without us accomplishing anything beyond downing a cup of coffee, dashing off a few emails, and dishing with our coworkers around the water cooler. By the time the workday wraps up, we're so exhausted and defeated that any motivation to accomplish something in the evening has vanished.

But according to time management expert Laura Vanderkam, mornings hold the key to taking control of our schedules. If we use them wisely, we can build habits that will allow us to lead happier, more productive lives.

Drawing on real-life anecdotes and scientific research that shows why the early hours of the day are so important, Vanderkam reveals how successful people use mornings to help them accomplish things that are often impossible to take care of later in the day. While many of us are still in bed, these folks are scoring daily victories to improve their health, careers, and personal lives without sacrificing their sanity. For instance, former PepsiCo chairman and CEO Steve Reinemund would rise at 5:00 a.m., run four miles, pray, and eat breakfast with his family before heading to work to run a Fortune 500 company.

What the Most Successful People Do Before Breakfast is a fun, practical guide that will inspire you to rethink your morning routine and jump-start your life before the day has even begun.

I want to better use of my day by waking up earlier. I agree that it is harder to do some things later in the day. I am less productive when I wait to do some things.

Loved this book! Quick and to the point. The author does talk about concepts I’ve heard before but this book is really motivating on now morning time is the time to get things done and if your struggling with having time for oneself, exercising, planning your day etc the morning time is available to all of us we just need to get up earlier!

At first I was put off by the soft voice of the author but it quickly grew on me. The timing and clarity of speech was great and the content of the book was thought provoking and clear. The onus is put back on us, the reader to choose a morning routine we can be happy with. I liked it. Plus, it was such a nice bite size book.

Good message and gives a lot of relevant examples as applications. Easy read. A bit repetitive
  • (5/5)
It motivated me enough to wake up early, and finish some of my essential, personal tasks such as exercise, prayers, journaling or even reading.
    Thanks.
Looking forward to applying all these points in reality.

This book gave me the tools to help organize my morning

I have always believed in the transformative power of a morning routine. But life does get inthe way and for a while I'd not been sincere enough to practise it.Laura reminded me why I enjoyed a structured morning so much. With evidence and examples, she convinces the reader how much can be gained by this one lifestyle change. I highly recommend this book to everyone who wants to live a more purposeful, fulfilling and productive life by harnessing the power of the mornings.

  • (4/5)
Really concise treatment of the topic of taking charge of your morning. Nothing hugely novel in the book but it deals with the subject very competently. Informative and entertaining!
  • (5/5)
Really informative and reflective, it is certainly worth a listen
  • (3/5)
The content is great but the recording seems to be out of order and has long pieces cut out where there is silence.
