About this audiobook
Love only works when your heart is in the right place. Hers could be right next door…
Single mom Bridgette Dalton doesn’t have time to stop and smell the roses—not even in her own flower shop. But that doesn’t mean she hasn’t noticed Bodhi Booker. Her ruggedly handsome next-door neighbor would be the perfect candidate for a no-strings fling. Having loved and lost, Bridgette’s not ready to hand over her heart…but she could use a distraction.
Bodhi has one rule: never leave anyone behind. As a special operative, he knows that each new mission is more dangerous than the last. He’s never made a promise of forever to a woman, not even to the beautiful widow who has him tied in knots. And if there were anyone who could tempt him into putting down roots, it would be Bridgette and her adorable son.
But as his next deployment nears, they make a startling discovery. Their passion, meant only for the here and now, might already be blossoming into something more…

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This book had me in tears it was so good. When the book started out I was a little worried it was going to be all about sex because Bodhi and Bridgette has some steamy scenes. I was happily wrong. The emotional connection and friendship of these characters was so strong. I absolutely LOVED the two main characters and you throw her son Louise in and how Bodhi cares for him. Swoon.
Bodhi is a military man who was in the private sector now but he knew there was always a potential of him not coming back when he’d go on a mission. Knowing that he didn’t want to put a woman through that like his mom went through when his father died at war. Misguided yes but his heart was in the right place. His words to Bridget are heartfelt and romantic. Completely honest and open. Never wanting to lead her on but unable to stop loving her.
“I never meant to fall in love with you,” he admitted, and her eyes went damp. “I thought I could do this, but you and Louie . . .” Overwhelmed by his emotions, he paused to try to regain control and cradled her face in his hands. He was probably holding her too hard, but he was afraid to let her go—and afraid not to. Tears streamed down her cheeks, slipping over his fingers. “I fell, Bridge. I fell so hard I feel like I’m breaking apart. I love you and Louie, and I know I shouldn’t, and it’s unfair, but—”
I mean who wouldn’t fall for a man like that!
Then there’s Bridgette. A strong, loving mother who has been on her own with a son for 5 years. Going into the relationship she knew it was for the “her and now.” She understood why but she still fell head over heals for him. When it came to him leaving she asked if they had to end it. He turned around and asked if she could tell Louise if something happened to him. She put her sons needs above her own and let him go.
“I love you for caring enough to let us go, when I know in my heart it’s the last thing you want to do. I will always love you, Bridgette.”
I absolutely fell for these characters and want to read this book again and again.
