This is a great suspenseful storyline with believable characters, and it draws attention to the kidnapping and death of children. I was enthralled and couldn't stop reading.

This is the first book I’ve read by this author and it won’t be the last. This book is the first in a series and I’m looking forward to reading more since I enjoyed this one so much. It was full of mystery and good characters. Each character had a great personality and fit perfectly in the story. Alex Mercer was a lost soul who worked and drank and that’s about all. Every once in awhile he sees his daughter, Ariana, who was given up for adoption in a strange circumstances (you’ll have to read it for that explanation). While he was visiting her on Halloween, they were having a great time being dad and daughter, when a stranger abducts her. As hard and fast as Alex could run he couldn’t get her back but he did get a pretty good look of the man and the vehicle. Alex is determined to get Ariana back even when it brings back memories of Alex’s sister when she was taken years ago. The story goes on with Alex playing detective while working out issues with his pass and Ariana’s mother. He does find a person in the police department who is willing to help find Ariana and believes Alex more than anyone else. The book has a little bit of everything in it that makes it a good book. The ending took me by surprise as well. I look forward to more in the series.

    Eh...

While the cover art is dynamite, the story itself does not feel like a thriller. It does have some suspense, but that's about all. The synopsis was very intriguing, I don't think the storyline is strong. The dialogue is passable, but nothing to be impressed with. I was hoping for a more emotionally charged story.

Loved this book! Fast paced & exciting, it kept me reading straight through to the very end. Alex Mercer's daughter was kidnapped & he's struggling. How could this happen twice in one family? His sister was kidnapped years before. Stacy Claflin has created a group of characters that pull us into the story from the opening scenes & just will not let us go! Her descriptions make you feel as if you are a part of the scenes. The plot has even twists to keep you guessing!
