It is with a heavy heart that I give a bitter badbye to the Red Queen series. It is down to the last hour of the civil war in the kingdom of Norta. King Maven has allied with two weak yet valuable opponents and Cal has other allies that want to see the lesser of two evils controlling Norta. Maven wants to end Cal to keep the crown and Cal still wants to fix his little brother but no newblood has been found who could help him undo all that Elara did to hers son. Mare is fighting harder than ever to free every red--newblood or not and create a republic in which no one is treated like a slave.Boring, boRIng, BOrinG, boring, BORING. It was so hard to get through the first 20%. I just wanted it to end. The chapters were so long and even though Maven was my favorite character in this entire series his POV was only slightly less boring. Was my dislike for this series that much that I completely missed the thing between Cameron and Kilorn? And the fact that Gisa likes girls? and the little detail about how Mare has always had purple lightning? I don't know why I torture myself this much.I thought I was in the mood for action and murder but apparently I wasn't because I skimmed through most of it. One thing I did get a kick out of was how so many people have always hated Kilorn, finding him clingy and useless, yet Mr. Mysterious Jon revealed that he was the catalyst for the big gaping hole in the wall that had divided reds and silvers since forever. Personally, I've always like good ol' Kilorn and seeing that just made me happy.what didn't make me happy was that Maven died in the end. And that Mare killed him. RIP my boy king.
Rating: 2A strong finish to this series - the fight continues between the different factions of Reds and Silvers and Mare Barrow discovers new allies in this final volume. It's a good, satisfying conclusion, but I have to confess that this series had started to lose its charm for me. I think the characters could have been more distinctive, although I did like the evolution of Evangeline's character. I guess I was just always hoping for more from this series, especially after Red Queen was so amazing. Still, a good finish.
Rating: 3Victoria Aveyard has finished the Red Queen series in a fantastic way. The ending wasn't predictable, and it left me feeling satisfied; it felt complete. I really took my time finishing this book. I had to not only because it was over 600 pages, but because there are a ton of things going on. There are many perspective changes within the book, so you are able to see multiple sides of the many battles that happen. The bonus to these is you are able to understand each character's point of view, and how they perceive the world. It is written in a way that you are savoring each section for each person.Mare isn't the main focus of this book I feel. I feel like it's every character is equally important. I was a little let down at the end, I was expecting more of her power like some ultimate reveal but we didn't really have that. She goes through a lot of changes in the previous books and in this one she still is a little, but I feel like she aware of who she is going to be. Evangeline has become a lovable character to me. You see her soft side when she thinks her brother is gone. You see her intelligence show when she is piecing together things while Anabel Lerolan, Cal's grandmother, is talking. She is a strong badass on the battlefield and her strength to continue the fight is amazing. Her strong emotions and opinions, like how much she cares for her brother and is repulsed by her mother, or her hatred/love for her father while he uses her as a bargaining chip. Her love and adoration for Elane, and her desire to be with her, but she can't because it is considered abhorrent and a waste of power. Victoria Aveyard has a knack for writing strong badass female characters for sure. I think if she were the main character it could have been great too. I think she could have had her own book. Victoria Aveyard's greatest skill with this novel is the battle scenes. You read from Mare's perspective which she is at another location from the rest of the group and it is fast but intense and emotional. Then you get into Evangeline's perspective which when I was reading it I felt like it would be an amazing scene in a movie. You can feel the tension and the terror that Evangeline deals with while she is struggling to survive. That is just an example of only one of the many battles within the book. I loved reading the battles personally. I completely think this series AS A WHOLE is a must read if you enjoy young adult books. If I didn't read past the first book, I might not have recommended it as strongly. Now, since I've read all the books I have to push for this one. I've seen the writing improve through all the books. I've seen the characters develop into memorable people that leave a lasting impression. I feel satisfied with the whole outcoming and the meanings behind certain aspects of the book.

Wow...I'm a ball of emotions and don't know what to say. That was intense and crazy. Those battle scenes were nuts...so vivid I felt like I was watching a movie in my head! Awesome. We finally finally get Cal and Maven POVs!! Though I had hoped Cal's POV would be a bit more than it was. We only got one chapter and I wish we could have seen more of him. I also have to say that Evangeline really grew on me in this book. She was painted as such a villain in the earlier books but we really got to know her and I actually really liked her. As for the Cal/Mare tension....I kept rooting for them and I get why they each thought what they were doing was for the best, but ugh! So difficult! And the ending...I'm pretty disappointed with the ending. I'm a sucker for HEAs and when I don't get it I feel really unfulfilled. The ending didn't feel like the end of a series and more like the end of a book. Still great, but just not what I would have liked to have seen. I'm so invested in all these characters, I'm so sad the series is over.

Rating: 5I knew I wouldn’t like the ending regardless of how it ended after investing in this series, but I think she executed these books very well and war storm was really good. However she left the ending pretty open to the imagination as if there were going to be more books instead of this being the conclusion of the series. Overall though excellent series

The first 200 pages i feel asleep twice but then it was really good. The entire series like this hit or mis depending on the chapter. It also could have been the narrator for "Mare" Amanda Dolan who kept putting me to sleep.

Best of the series, a bit slow at times, but fun and eventful
Rating: 4War Storm is book four in the Red Queen series.At the end of King's Cage, Cal chooses the crown over Mare in hopes of making the world a better place with a king who cares and wants to make changes. Mare, the Red Guard, and others want a free society without a king. Mare realizes that Tiberias Calore (Cal) can no longer be her future. This divide of the Reds and Tiberias must be bridged if peace can ever reign.The factions remain. The Red Guard want freedom, like what Premier Davidson's country offers: no one is better than someone else due to Red or Silver blood. The silvers with Maven want Maven as king and Silvers ruling over Reds, using Reds like slaves. Tiberias just wants the Guard and Davidson to trust him that he'll rule with care and, in time, can change society. The others know that the next king could be just as controlling and power hungry and cruel as any in the past. Therefore, ruling the country via a king cannot be supported. If Tiberias won't remove the throne, they will not support him militarily IF he can get Maven off the throne. In the midst of all of these wants, add in Iris and her people, Evangeline who wants freedom, and Anabel, Cal's grandmother, who wants power.The Guard, Davidson, and Tiberius all work together in hopes of removing Maven. If this event were to occur, what happens to the kingdom? I don't want to say anything else because I hate to give away plot in a series. In some ways I was surprised by the ending and in others, it ended exactly as I expected although not entirely as I had hoped. It's a good look at the consequences of choices and what must be done because you have no choice when making a place safe and liveable. Overall, I enjoyed the series. Mare began as such a selfish girl in book one to someone willing to die to make the world better for her people.

Rating: 5This book was cruising right along until the last 1/3 or so... not a lot of action, and some repetitive stuff, but I was still engaged. At some point, there’s just too many overly dramatic plot twists and betrayals, and my eyeballs start to hurt from the incessant rolling. Still, I hung in there, and then the ending TOTALLY RUINED THE WHOLE SERIES.Seriously. Mare has to be the most annoying character ever.
