About this audiobook

Fifteen-year-old Ellie Mack was the perfect daughter. She was beloved by her parents, friends, and teachers. She and her boyfriend made a teenaged golden couple. She was days away from an idyllic summer vacation with her whole life ahead of her.

And then she was gone.

Now, her mother Laurel Mack is trying to put her life back together. It's been ten years since her daughter disappeared, seven years since her marriage ended, and only months since the last clue in Ellie's case was unearthed. So when she meets an unexpectedly charming man in a cafe, she is surprised at how quickly their flirtation develops into something deeper. Before she knows it, she's meeting Floyd's daughters-and his youngest, Poppy, takes her breath away. Looking at her is like looking at Ellie. And now, the unanswered questions she has tried so hard to put to rest haunt her anew...as well as some new ones about Floyd and Poppy...

I really enjoyed this book after I got through the beginning. This book has a different twist. I at first hated the main character, but after her harshness calmed I began to understand her thought process. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone looking for a quick read.

A story of loss, angst and obsession. A happy family, mum, dad and three children, living the good life, until the day 15 year old Ellie doesn't come home. Ten years later and Laurel meets the handsome Floyd and his daughter Poppy who looks familiar. Told from the points of view of the main characters the reader discovers exactly what happened and why. Another fantastic book from this author, which kept me engrossed the whole way through - without any skimming! Descriptions of loss intermingled with happier moments as we go through Laurel's ups and downs as she tries to find out what happened to her beautiful daughter. Loved this story and didn't want it to end!

The weaving of the story was beautifully done. Not so much a "who done it" because you get the idea pretty early on, but the characters are wonderful and the end is just gut wrenching.

Wow is about all that I can say right off. This book was easy to figure out early on but it still held my attention. Just kept turning the page to see how it was going to end and it did not disappoint. This was my first book by Lisa Jewell but if all of her books are like this one, I will be reading them all.

A sad story of a missing teenager who is kidnapped by her math tutor. The story was an interesting one mostly from the perspective of the mother of the teenager. Her struggle to move forward and then be pulled back into the nightmare many years later was heartwrenching. The turn of the wasn't surprising but overall a good and quick read.

Best psychological thriller I have read in a long time. Complicated broken characters and twisted realities are wrapped into a wonderment of what could be next. And I hear there is a part 2 that just came out. Yes! If you like Gilligan Flynn, Jewell's story is at that same amazing and captivating level!

2023 book #1. 2018. 15-yo Ellie is the perfect daughter. Then one day she disappeared. 10 years later Ellie's mum, Laurel meets 10-yo Poppy who reminds her so much of Ellie. She starts to finally put together what happened. Read for book club. Pretty good and suspenseful.

I don't read a ton of thrillers, so this is a different genre for me, but I was hooked from the beginning. I thought I had figured out things, but there were a few different twists and plot changes than I thought, which made it extra enjoyable. The many different points of views made this book even better, the unreliable characters were fascinating and heartbreaking at the same time. I have a feeling I'll be thinking of this one for awhile!

I would give this book a 4 out of 5. I liked the storyline and the characters. The only thing I disliked is that it was predictable. I don't like books that give away the killer early. The ending of the book isn't really a cheery one either. The book for the most part is entertaining and you'll want to keep turning the pages. It is well written and the story moves along nicely. It was worth reading to figure out how the murder happened and how the story line ended.
