About this audiobook

If She Knew (A Kate Wise Mystery) is audiobook number one in a psychological thriller series by best-selling author Blake Pierce.

Fifty-five-year-old empty nester — and freshly retired FBI agent — Kate Wise finds herself drawn out of her quiet suburban life when her friend’s daughter is murdered in a home invasion — and she is implored to help.

Kate thought she left the FBI behind after 30 years as their top agent, respected for her brilliant mind, tough street skills, and her uncanny ability to hunt down serial killers. Yet Kate, bored with the quiet town, at a crossroads in life, is summoned by a friend she can’t turn down.

As Kate hunts the killer, she soon finds herself at the forefront of a manhunt as more bodies turn up — all suburban moms in perfect marriages — and it becomes apparent there is a serial killer stalking this quiet town. She unearths secrets from her neighbors she wishes she never knew, discovering that all is not what it seems in this picture of model streets and neighbors. Affairs and lying are rampant, and Kate must sift through the town’s underbelly if she will stop the killer from striking again.

But this killer is one step ahead of her, and it may end up being Kate who is in danger.

An action-packed thriller with heart-pounding suspense, If She Knew is audiobook number one in a riveting series that will leave you listening late into the night.

An author that can write dialogue while having two women's experience compliment each other. No useless drama between FBI agents as filler.. Decent story.

Blake Pierce writes several different mystery/thriller series and this new-to-me series did not let me down. However, there are a few things that are somewhat unbelievable that occur as part of the police and FBI investigation. I also felt that the ending should have been extended to include more of the interrogation and evidence collection. There were a few editing problems in the kindle version that I read.

Overall, the plot was good. The book did start a little slowly, but it ramped up speed as the story evolved. The slow start did give me a better feel for the main character before the action started.

I believe this book gave extra background information on Kate Wise as a setup for the rest of the series. Overall, I enjoyed the novel and look forward to reading the next one.

I enjoyed the novel as a 70 yr old woman who worked in a man's world for 10 yrs in my 40s. Work 2x as hard & bring in more jobs than the men combined. But credit? No.
I'll listen to the next in the series, but I really dislike the flat, no accent, AI sounding narrator.

I found the book enjoyable. I liked the main character enough to start book 2.

Easy read, not much story depth but nice to listen to while pulling weeds or doing some chore.

This writer is only moderately talented. Additionally, this is perhaps the worst narrator I’ve ever heard. It made it doubly hard to get through. I had intended to listen to the entire series. Perhaps not.

It was pretty good, I enjoyed it… I just felt it a little hard to keep up with some of the characters, but it was a great first book of many in the series! I’m excited to move onto the second book!

My husband & I quite liked the book until the exact moment it should have gotten really interesting. It was like the author built this good story & then turned it into a crappy cliché. But other than the climax, it was pretty good.

The story would have been reasonable if the narrator wasn't so boring. Goodness, no emotion in that voice. A scream is in exactly the same tone as all the rest. I had to put it on a faster pace to get through the story.

Breathy pause-y narration. Poor writing. Every sentence seems to start with "she".

This was a pretty good introduction to the series. A lot of the book was plotting character history for a continuation of the series, yet it still merged with the current story really well.

I enjoyed the story. It's not one of the best I've ever heard, but entertaining enough. I just hope the next one has a different narrator.

The story was not that great. It left lot of things in the air. But it was enjoyable if u like law and order and similar shows. Read it with super low expectations and you will enjoy it

Gag! It’s all been done before. This was not a good re-write. No twist, no surprise. Same old blah!
