About this audiobook
Wall Street Journal bestselling author Charlie N. Holmberg builds her bewitching world of beasts and betrayal as the Numina Series continues.
Sandis has escaped Kazen’s grasp, but she finds herself unmoored, reeling from her thief friend Rone’s betrayal.
Kazen has been hurt but not stopped, and he’ll do anything to summon the monster that could lay waste to the entire world. Sandis knows she must be the one to stop him, but with her own trusted numen now bound to another, and finding herself with no one she can trust, she is in desperate need of allies. Rone seems determined to help her, but Sandis has no intention of letting him get close to her again. What she doesn’t know is how much Rone gave up to protect her. Or how much more he is willing to give up to keep her safe.
As chaos mounts, Sandis must determine whom to trust. After all, the lines between enemy and ally have never been less clear…and corruption lurks in the most unlikely of places.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I have been loving the story, I found it very well written and the two voices that read are charming too! Thanks
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Sandis has found her great uncle (but is that really such a good thing?) and wants nothing to do with Rone. But events conspire against them - there is a bigger battle to fight. The story was entertaining enough but not compelling.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Suspenseful, supernatural, and fast paced. Suspend your belief system. Read the 3 books in order as one and two end requiring you to move on or abandon the "search." I'd never heard of this author or his works but I'm hooked. It's one of the main genres I enjoy but usually the writer is, well, nice. Here you get evil but not horror. I don't care for horror. Recommended,
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Too descriptive. Never thought I would say that but far too many irrelevant details
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5I was completely engrossed in this book because the universe Holmberg has created is wonderful. The reader can easily slip into the story and there isn't anything jarring to pull them back out. It really feels immersive while reading it, which makes it so easy to overlook some of the less-believable parts of the story. That being said, one of the biggest issues that this book presented for me as a reader was Sandis and Rone's relationship. It wasn't as compelling or realistic as I had hoped. When Rone betrayed Sandis in the first book, I thought that things were going to get interesting. But no- a guy who barely knows this girl leaves his mother (whom he betrayed Sandis for) and his only shot at freedom because he loves her. How is anyone supposed to believe that? I would have been fine with it if Rone didn't decide that he loved Sandis within three days of knowing her and they were given a chance to build a strong foundation for the relationship. It could have been as simple as Rone knowing that his betrayal was wrong and he returned to save her out of guilt. I had hoped that there would be more substance in their relationship in the second book, but there is little growth. Sandis spends much of the book being angry with Rone (but not all the other people that screwed her over) and he just follows her around. Basically, their relationship seems too forced for me to believe and takes away from the rest of the story. I hope that in the next installment Holmberg takes more time to develop a deeper relationship between Rone and Sandis.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Myths & Mortals (Numina Trilogy,Book 2) by Charlie N. Holmberg due 4-16-2019 47 North 4.5 / 5.0 Charlie N. Holmberg has done it again! This series, Numina Trilogy, started out strong, but this one is even better. Her fantastic world building draws you into a place of fascination, mystique and intrigue. Of good and evil. Of Celestials and Noscons; Grifters and Riggers. This is world full of choice and full of emotional tugs, it carries a message and an incentive to think for yourself, and what defines good and evil for you....and how can you be sure....The last books leaves Rone with hard choices and facing his growing affection for Sandis. In this one we learn more about Sandis life, her family conflicts, and see her become increasingly distrustful. We are also introduced to a new vessel, Bastien and we continue the search and chase for Kazan. This is a strong and fun series, with a deep yet subtle message that is unforgettable. Thanks to 47 North for this ebook ARC for review.#MythsAndMortals #netgalley
