About this audiobook

Army Capt. Jordan Armstrong surrendered a piece of her soul to the burning sands of Afghanistan. Now back home, only two things keep her going: her demanding job as a Search and Rescue pilot and sailing her forty-five-foot yacht around the coast of McKinley Point, Western Australia-alone. Plenty of women have tried to reach behind her walls, but Jordan remains aloof. When American expat Sara Matthews shows up in her life and takes an instant dislike to her, it sets her heart on fire. For the first time in what feels like forever, Jordan truly wants to be seen and understood. She desperately wants Sara to discover the real person behind the mask. And so, it begins . . .

I was looking forward to this book, as I quite enjoyed ‘As Far As It Takes’ by the same author, and it had an overall 4.4 start review rating. Plus I have a soft spot for SAR related stuff. But the whole thing just felt off to me. The characters, the pace, etc. I felt like so many topics got touched upon, but never explored to their full capacity. It felt like it could have been so much more…I almost did not finish it because I kind of got bored.

I loved the love story but hated the loss. Why was that needed. The narrator was amazing. Worth listening to.

Well written, good narrator, really enjoyed this book. The last few chapters certainly keep you on the edge of your seat.

The book kept my interest from beginning to end. I really wish the author had not done what she did. I understand why she did it, but I wish she had just let the story develop fluidly. No need for heads up of any kind, no matter what. Yes, foreshadowing has its uses and benefits, but not in this case, in my opinion. Still, I really like the story and the characters, development, plot, etc. Nicely done. Looking forward to another story by his author.
