About this audiobook
This lush tale of magic and dragons is a gem for any adventure-seeking middle grader and perfect for fans of Aru Shah and the End of Time. Anya and the Dragon is the story of fantasy and mayhem in tenth century Eastern Europe, where headstrong eleven-year-old Anya is a daughter of the only Jewish family in her village. When her family's livelihood is threatened by a bigoted magistrate, Anya is lured in by a friendly family of fools, who promise her money in exchange for helping them capture the last dragon in Kievan Rus. This seems easy enough, until she finds out that the scary old dragon isn't as old-or as scary-as everyone thought. Now Anya is faced with a choice: save the dragon, or save her family.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5A warm folktale that is slow moving but heartfelt. I also have the book, and hoped it had a glossary for all of the mystical and cultural references. It did not, so I will look them up instead.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Great fantasy series of a coming to age girl who discovers her inner strength and life long friends.
My 11 year old daughter and I enjoyed reading it together. - Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5I loved this book. The main character reminds me very much of Aru Shah, she's a plucky heroine ready to save the world for those she loves.
I like that there's not a clear right and wrong, Anya has to make some difficult choices along the way. She has to lie to nearly everyone she meets, and when her wife's on the line she has to figure out what the truth is. - Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Set in a fantasy version of 10th century Russia. Anya talks about working toward her bat-mitzvah (even though the bat-mitzvah is only 100 years old). Her family is the only Jewish family in the village. Her faith does not have any objections to magic. Her family faces prejudice and mistreatment. Ivan is really sweet.
