About this audiobook

Where Does the Search for Truth Lead?

When Tenzin Lahkpa is fifteen years old, his parents give him over to a local temple in Tibet as an offering. Unable to change his fate, he wholeheartedly embraces his life as a monk and begins a quest for full enlightenment through the teachings of Buddhism.

From his local monastery to the famed Potala Palace in Lhasa, Tibet, he learns deep mysteries of Tibetan Buddhism. Yearning to study with the current Dalai Lama, he eventually escapes from China by means of an excruciating, two-thousand-mile, secret trek over the Himalayas-barefoot, with no extra gear, changes of clothing, or money. His dream is realized when he finally sits under the Dalai Lama himself. But his desire to go deeper only grows, leading him to unexpected conclusions . . .

Follow the fascinating, never-before-told, true story of what causes a highly dedicated Tibetan Buddhist monk to make the radical decision to walk away from the teachings of Buddha and leave his monastery to follow Jesus Christ.

I can hear the uproars of people with blind faith. But this is a beautiful story from a very brave person. Can also help Westerners to gain some insight of some aspects of Tibetan buddhism which some are so eager to conceal from us.

What a story! Out of darkness and into the light!
Some parts of the story were a little slow moving, but this is a biography, not an action novel. It’s incredible to see first hand how Jesus spoke to someone deep in the Tibetan mountains to show him truth, love and freedom.

I’m in the 5th or 6th chapter of the book and I’ve never heard such a concentrated barrage of either misconceptions or outright lies about Tibetans and Tibetan Buddhism. I will continue listening but am skeptical that it will get any better. Why does the author feel he has to so grossly misconstrue Buddhism and the culture of Tibet?

To give a cross-cultural example, a Christian parallel of, let’s say, a story about someone rescued from the “darkness” of Christian tradition and brought to the light of the Buddhadharma, would likely characterize Christianity as a “zombie cult” worshiping something undead, risen from the grave (Easter) and then the followers started eating human flesh (the Lord’s Supper). This is no less than the level of misconstrual of this work of fiction.

The other reviewers saying how much they learned about Tibet and Buddhism are sorely abused by the author’s lies and distortions. I have so many questions: What is really motivating the author? Is this actually Chinese Communist propaganda? Does the author fear the truth? Is lying in supposed service of the Christian faith a Christian virtue? Who then is served by lying? Who, I have to ask, is the Father of Lies?

No, do not read this book if you have any interest in learning the truth about Buddhism and Tibet. Do read it if you would like to enter into a total fantasy about your own cultural superiority, to feed and inflate your own spiritual ego, and to be willingly used by a book based on lies and a dishonest attempt to manipulate the reader; read this book if you would like to weaken your own faith by basing it on lies.

This book is a very interesting biography that shows how God can lead someone who is surrounded by multiple teachings to himself. This also gave me a better understanding of what Buddhism really teaches.

What a fascinating insight into the darkness of the Buddhist world. So encouraging to hear of God's powerful pursuing of Tenzin and what he and his wife are doing now. Praying for them.

This book really gave me insight into what it is like being a Tibetan Monk and also an incredible testimony of coming to know Jesus.
