About this audiobook
“Outrageous, heartwarming, wonderfully sensual…I loved it!”

“For sheer fun, nobody beats Nobody’s Baby But Mine.”
—Detroit Free Press
The Minneapolis Star-Tribune writes, “Next to Tracy and Hepburn, no one does romantic comedy better than Susan Elizabeth Phillips.” For proof, you need to look no further than Nobody’s Baby But Mine. This classic comic love story from perennial New York Times bestseller Phillips unites a beautiful, brainy scientist desperate to be a mom with a brawny, smoking hot jock who, though handsome enough to father her child, is nowhere near as stupid as she wants her baby’s daddy to be. Emily Giffin, Jane Green, and Rachel Gibson fans take note: when it comes to delivering delightfully funny, supremely sexy contemporary women’s fiction, nobody but nobody is better than Susan Elizabeth Phillips.

- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5This funny story had an enjoyable plot, sex, and action including a minor secondary romance. Genius physicist Jane wants a baby and picks quarterback Cal to be the father. Sometimes I wondered if Cal was a bit too vindictive but hey he was a pampered sports star and there was sufficient groveling.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5The best one so far in the series! It kept me guessing through the whole book what was going to happen. I loved Cal and Jane, though I thought what she did was a little bit like an extreme solution to her problems, but then she won me over. I laughed and I almost cried several times, and don't get me started with that last chapter. :')
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5NOTICE: *I “started” getting into reading this book early afternoon Sunday. The next thing I knew, the birds were chirping Monday morning and I had read thru the night. Did I love it? ABSOLUTELY. Not what I expected.SENSUALITY RATING: YES Profanity; YES sexual encounters – “His arousal”, “straddled his thigh”. Such a completely great story that the sex did not detract from the plot and was tasteful (if not I would have quickly flipped through those pages as I prefer sexual encounters to be practically null in any book that I read).GENRE: Modern day Romance; Sports romanceSETTING: Chicago; Salvation, North CarolinaCENTRAL FEMALE CHARACTER: JANE DARLINGTON; physicist; extremely intelligent; geek CENTRAL MALE CHARACTER: CAL BONNER – professional football player; middle-age; short temper SYNOPSIS: They couldn’t be any different in life. All she wanted was a baby and nothing more. She cared only that the sperm come from someone……“dumb”. He was a professional football player reaching the end of his career but not realistic about going there. His nemesis just wanted him out to the way. WHAT I LIKED: Annie Glide, smarter than people realize.WHAT I DID NOT LIKE: Never mentioned throughout the book how and when she “slowly” shed her geek appearance.OVERALL RATING: (5) stars because unexpected events from beginning to end and all the way around. Very well written. Pulls the reader into the story. Loved ALL the major characters which is unusual for any book. First time reading this author's work and look forward to more.

I thought this was a fun book. The characters were enjoyable, they had good conflict, chemistry and banter. I laughed and smiled a lot while reading this. I do have to say... I dislike when the author uses the title of the book as a line in conversation... but that's just me. Phillips is becoming one of my favourite authors. - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I will never look at a box of Lucky Charms the same way again! This book is hilarity and emotion at their optimum. Jane Darlington wants a baby... a NORMAL baby. Because she's a genius and lived through a childhood of being called FREAK, she thinks that the way to get a normal baby is to breed with a stupid man. But she doesn't find out until too late that the stupid man she chose is nearly as smart as she is. A marriage of convenience is anything but in this wonderfully, character-driven story. Pick it up, and Susan Elizabeth Phillips will become one of your must read authors forever
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5In Nobody's Baby But Mine, Jane Darlington is a brilliant scientist who suddenly realizes that she wants a baby. The only problem is, in order to have a child of somewhat "normal" intelligence, she needs to find someone really dim to father the child. She decides on Cal Bonner, quaterback for the Chicago Stars. The only problem is, he's not nearly as stupid as Jane thinks he is. I thought this book was hilarious. There were several times I laughed out loud and I pretty much had a smile on my face throughout the entire thing. It took me a while to warm up to Cal (he really was such a jerk to Jane when he found out she was pregnant), but after that, I really fell in love with the characters.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5As much as I love this series, especially on audio, I admit, I had trouble with this one. The entire premise of Jane's deceit to get a baby was hard for me to stomach, and Cal macho gruffness just wasn't very likable at first. But... they both grew on me eventually. The side story of Cal's parents helped, though Jim's behavior towards Lynn was troublesome as well - until he wises up. By the end, I was enjoying myself, and Anna Fields narration made the storyline easier to swallow. Yet, I couldn't shake the whole "ick" feeling I got thinking about how they got together and why in the first place.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Jane Darlington is a physics professor. She's single-mindedly focused on her work but when her ex-boyfriend dumped her and announced that he was having a baby with the new girlfriend, the tears kicked her biological clock into high. But Jane has a problem. She is a certifiable genius and she doesn't want her child to have the unhappy, freakish childhood she had so she purposely sets out to have her baby fathered by someone who is dumb as a post. (Obviously understanding genetics and the role it plays in intelligence is not her strong point though.) Her next door neighbor's ditzy daughter decides to set her up with the quarterback of the local pro team and Jane, seeing him play the rube on tv, agrees. She is to be Cal Bonner's birthday present from his teammates who think that releasing sexual tension might make ole Cal less of a bear to work with on the field. Somehow, despite Cal's aversion for prostitutes, he is willing to have at it with the vamped-up, anonymous, supposed high class call girl Jane. But she doesn't get pregnant. And so all on her own initiative, she accosts him for a repeat performance the following month, at which time she does fall pregnant. Now he's never supposed to know about the baby but finds out, leading him to strong arm her into an unpleasant marriage of convenience, at least until the baby is born. Even worse, they go back to his tiny home town and Jane has to deal with his family, including his wacky, backwoods grandmother, all while maintaining a frigid relationship with a man she's coming to love. There is much sexual tension, some laughable scenes, and the requisite misunderstandings in this contemporary romance. Cal is not nearly as stupid as Jane had hoped and she is not nearly as savvy as he assumed. There are mini plots galore amongst Cal's family as well. This is a generally likable book that doesn't require deep reading. It will be a hit with most romance fans.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5The basic premise is that this brianiac chick with limited social skills is so desperate to havea baby that she agrees to be a "birthday present" for a football player. She does get the result she is after, but when he finds out he forces her to get married to him. They then move to his hometown where they have to work out their differences--with a little help from his family and friends.A pretty predictable "marriage of convience" romance, way too unbelievable and focused on all the wrong things. Good for an escape from reality.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5SEP makes me laugh. She makes me cry. She makes me do both at once! Wonderful romance, great characters. Perfect for each other, though of course they don't know it. This may be my favorite of hers.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This book was adorable! I actually laughed out loud many times! Great writing!
