This was a beautifully written book about a man’s journey to being more whole, open and present to his life through the practice of zen. I’m inspired.

Sanbo Kyodan koan enlightenment porn. Autobiography interspersed with creative writing exercises when recounting his kensho / enlightenment experiences. I enjoyed 'A Straight Road with 99 Curves: Coming of Age on the Path of Zen' much more -- another autobiography covering sanbo-zen lineage. No complaints on quality of audiobook. Author does a fine job narrating his autobiography. The book provides a current glimpse of the innerworkings of sanbo-zen --an update to 3 Pillars (his repeated criticism of Kapleau seemed petty and ingratiating to his sanbo zen leaders) and 99 curves.
