About this audiobook
Assassin. Private Investigator. Cat shifter.
Kat is used to killing people, but for a blank cheque, she's willing to do the opposite and help solve a murder - even though it sounds boring as hell. That is, until she finds some body parts in her fridge, makes friends with the neighbourhood cats and realises there may be an assassin better than her…
Suddenly, things have become purrfectly exciting.
An urban fantasy full of cats, secrets and murders. This is a slow-burn reverse harem where Kat will find her love interests over time.
Book one in the Catnip Assassins series.
Skye MacKinnon
Skye MacKinnon is a USA Today & International Bestselling Author whose books are filled with strong heroines who don't have to choose. She embraces her Scottishness with fantastical Scottish settings and a dash of mythology, no matter if she's writing about Celtic gods, cat shifters, or the streets of Edinburgh. When she's not typing away at her favourite cafe, Skye loves dried mango, as much exotic tea as she can squeeze into her cupboards, and being covered in pet hair by her bunny diva and cat princess.

- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Book is so so. Audio narration is truly awful. Intonation is weird, just all over the place. Makes the book feel very cringy.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ for Meow on Audiobook!
I listened to Meow on audiobook over the last week and I enjoyed this first book in the series! With all the craziness of the pandemic, I haven't been able to listen as much (no commute = no listening haha) but by making time to listen to this story after a long day working from home, I could escape for a little bit.
Story: 4.5/5 Stars
I enjoyed Kat and her "coworkers" haha and the new and ??? men that showed up and will be part of the series moving forward. I thought the concept was great and even though I am a dog person, loved all the cats and their personalities. I liked that she kept shifting and talking to them and used them as her spy network! I totally called the ending hahaha. He just was too refined to be anything other than what was revealed (no I won't say who, not gonna spoil it). I am super intrigued by the ninja human with a little extra, and always love the 2nd chance/childhood friend who becomes more trope. I cant wait to see where Skye takes this next. Great storytelling and world building. Definitely recommend!
Narration: 3.5/5 Stars
So this was my first listen of Melody Muzljakovich and I am still on the fence about adding her to my "Always Listen" list. She didnt do a horrible job, but there were things that I wasn't a fan of that sometimes took me out of the book. I thought some of her accents were amazing (like some of the "posh" ones haha), totally could see the character in my head. Some weren't so great (some of the male voices and Lily's were not as strong/my favorites). Sometimes, I got annoyed with her inflections with Kat. Like they didnt match what was happening in the story or the way she did it was overdone. I think its more a personal preference honestly. I would definitely listen to her again (and definitely if she continues her narration of this long series). - Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/52.5 stars
Kat is an assassin & she never lets you forget it. She goes on a lot about killing people & liking it. For the first half Kat also finds everything boring… the suburbs, the papers on the desk, gardening, it felt a bit much I started to become bored.
I didnt mind the narrator but found some of her inflections a bit hard & couldnt tell whether it was the narration or the story itself that I didnt really like. - Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5Honestly it’s very repetitive. “I’m Kat, I hate everyone, meh.” This is repeated all through book one and two. Also when they say slow burn they mean slowwwwwwww. The narration sucks. The narrator uses too many inflections that just don’t fit. Could’ve been a good story but between poor writing and bad narration it’s just boring. Don’t think I’m going to make it through another book.
