He proposes a four-stage model of faith development in which questions and doubt are not the enemy of faith, but rather a portal to a more mature and fruitful kind of faith. The four stages—Simplicity, Complexity, Perplexity, and Harmony—offer a path forward that can help sincere and thoughtful people leave behind unnecessary baggage and intensify their commitment to what matters most.

Brian D. McLaren (MA, University of Maryland) is an author, speaker, activist and public theologian. After teaching college English, Brian pastored Cedar Ridge Community Church in the Baltimore-Washington, DC area. Brain has been active in networking and mentoring church planters and pastors for over 20 years. He is a popular conference speaker and a frequent guest lecturer for denominational and ecumenical leadership gatherings in the US and internationally.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I am so grateful for this book. It moved me to tears, and I found myself saying, “yes!”
So many times while listening to it!
Moving forward, I will listen for the “sound of the genuine” in others and in myself more closely. I love the concept of solidarity over supremacy. In the end, it is all about LOVE and faith expressing itself in love.
