IT’S MURDER BEING A HIT-MOM
"Getting the job done" for one single mom takes on a whole new meaning in Finlay Donovan is Killing It, a deliciously witty adult debut—the first in a brilliant new series from YA Edgar Award nominee Elle Cosimano.
FINLAY DONOVAN IS KILLING IT . . . except, she’s really not. The new book she promised her literary agent isn’t written, her ex-husband fired the nanny without telling her, and this morning she had to send her four-year-old to school with hair duct-taped to her head.
When Finlay’s overheard discussing the plot of her new novel with her agent over lunch, she’s mistaken for a contract killer and inadvertently accepts an offer to dispose of a problem husband in order to make ends meet . . . and she soon discovers that crime in real life is a lot more difficult than its fictional counterpart.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Sooooo great. Not crazy about the voice covers of all the characters the narrator did but the book is so totally worth it. Can't wait for more.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I’ll never look at Panera the same way.
Finlay is definitely something! A divorced mother raising two kids, dealing with an asshole ex and his mess, a nanny fired, and trying to get past writers block, well things couldn’t get worse.... right? Oh, let me say it can. Welcome to the shitshow that is Finlay Donovan.
This book was absolutely awesome. I never knew where it was fully going, it was a hot mess express, with mystery, murder, and awesome humor. I absolutely loved it. I can’t tell you how my favorite character was, because I couldn’t pick one. This book kept great pace (I was never bored) and the females got to stick together was perfect.
I can not wait for the second book, and this is going to not be just a top favorite this year (I can tell already) but definitely in my top books period. She killed it for an adult debate.A perfect five out of five. ????1 person found this helpful

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This book was so enjoyable to listen to. It was refreshingly entertaining and kept me laughing throughout the story. Her babysitter/accountant/accomplice and abone all friend Vero; commplemented the story. First time listening to Elle Cosimano’s work, Will keep looking for more of her books. Of. Course. Angela, did a wonderful job narrating it!

- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5It was a cute fun read! I enjoyed listening to it but it wasn’t life changing or an everyone must read
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This was such an impulse read for me as it's not my usual genre or storyline but from the first line I knew that it was going to be a great time. Finlay is so easy to relate with and to cheer for. Her relationship and the banter she had with Varo is amazing. I hope to see more of Varo and her story in the next book which I will definitely be reading as soon as possible. The narrator for these is awesome.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Awesome narration! Great book! I will be listening to the next as well.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Funny and mysterious at the same time! Can’t wait to read the next book!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This was a fantastic book. I don't usually read this type of book (dark humor, murder mystery type story) but I loved the cover and decided to give it a try. I'm so glad I did. I loved Finlay and I was on the seat of my chair the whole time as she got into one urgent and compromising situation after another. The plot was genius and it was flawlessly executed. A delight!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Excellent! Excellent! Excellent! One of the top 3 best novels I’ve finished this year! Absolutely recommend!!!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Liked characters, plot, just all of it. Loved the author and the narrator. I sure wish I would have read a lot sooner. Definitely ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️. Highly recommend.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Really enjoyed this book.
If you like Dead to Me or Desperate Housewives I think you’d enjoy this one. The audiobook book was great! Can’t wait for book #2 - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I loved it! I found the ending to be a bit surprising as I thought I knew who did it but it came to a twist that I was not expecting. If you love a bit of mystery, romance in a few scary parts. Then you will love this book!
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Super cute story- interested to see how they continue the second one. Not sure how I felt about the audio- might try to just read the second one.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5You'd think this premise wouldn't work, but it does. In all the mayhem and absurdity, there's heart and you're going to want to keep routing for Fin. Such a fun and hilarious tale and can't wait for book 2!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I was not expecting to love this as much as I did ! I am already jumping in to the next book as we speak ! Such an amazing series
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I never would have guessed that I would have such a fun time with this one. But this was such a good time! I'm so glad I read this.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5A great mystery and just all around funny!! Cant wait for the next book!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I wasn't expecting that it'll be that good! 5/5 stars
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This book was a joy to listen to! Angela Dawe is an awesome narrator. A mystery with a comedic edge was just what the doctor ordered!
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5A great start and concept, but I didn’t like the execution. Felt like a cheap B list movie: The baddies were just too unlikeable, her kids an annoying rendition of entitled little monsters, all the hot characters were after Finlay, and the unfolding of events was, at times, plain cringeworthy. A good read if you’re looking for light entertainment but if you’re into finding logic and reality in your books, this book will disappoint you.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Very entertaining! Similar to Dead to Me in the way the main character gets caught up in trouble.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5The opening scene had me laughing out loud. I could relate to this single mom of young children having an “everything that can go wrong, will go wrong” kind of morning.
But soon Finlay’s irresponsible behavior and dumb decisions began grating on me. She went out of her way to make things more difficult than they needed to be. Still, I was entertained.
Then from about midway onward, the story spiraled into implausible and ridiculous. Know going into this story that you can’t take it seriously.
I did love Vero, Finlay’s nanny. She’d be a fantastic friend to have on your side.
The ending wraps up nicely, providing you don’t read the epilogue. This short chapter is nothing more than a setup with a major cliffhanger, used to entice (extort) readers into buying the next book. So if you don’t want to read the next one or don’t plan to read it soon, skip the epilogue.
The audiobook is a fun listen. The narrator does an excellent job of inhabiting Finlay’s character. - Rating: 1 out of 5 stars1/5I couldn’t get through it. It clunked along badly. ?
