About this audiobook
One woman’s reappearance throws her family into turmoil, exposing dark secrets and the hidden, often devastating truth of family relationships.
Kate Bennett vanished from a parking lot eleven years ago, leaving behind her husband and young daughter. When she shows up at a Montana gas station, clutching an infant and screaming for help, investigators believe she may have been abducted by a cult.
Kate’s return flips her family’s world upside down—her husband is remarried, and her daughter barely remembers her. Kate herself doesn’t look or act like she did before.
While the family tries to help Kate reintegrate into society, they discover truths they’ve been hiding from each other about their own relationships. But they aren’t the only ones with secrets. As the family unravels what happened to Kate, a series of shocking revelations shows that Kate’s return is more sinister than any of them could have imagined.

- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5The story itself was insanely predictable that I just found it boring. The voices were also so cringe to listen to, every single sentence was like they were about to burst into tears even if it wasn't a sad point in the book.

- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5I found the characters and narrators in this book extremely irritating. The characters were not relatable, they made dumb decisions and instead of feeling empathy, I was just annoyed. The storyline had good potential, but ended abruptly and didn’t make a lot of sense with the rest of the book.
The narrators were also extremely hard to listen to. I couldn’t stand the voices that played Abby or Kate. Unfortunately, this is not a book I can recommend.1 person found this helpful
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5The voices of Kate and the new wife were grating. It was difficult to listen to. The story was interesting..

- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5Not great, annoying narrators, namely Meridith, and only a few great passages where the writer really showed emotional ties to her characters. Meh. Disappointed to be honest, but I listened all the way through, so that's on me.

- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5meridiths entire character GRATED on me i was so willing in the beginning to overlook some very selfish comments with everything else going on but she wouldn’t stop i wish someone would’ve said it’s not all about you!!! as if she has so much pain and ptsd from the trauma of it all no she doesn’t the dad and daughter were trying their best. this character just really really annoyed me and especially the narrators voice when she was speaking it was such a strange accent. other than that it was a decent plot line but not happy at the ending no real closure.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Intense!!!!! So well written, It was like a roller coaster ride. I was doubtful about downloading because some people had criticised the narration, but It was fine and the right amount of emotion for the subject Matter.
You are along for the ride every step of the way and It is shocking to read/listen how people are captivated by cults. - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This book was so good I wanted to google the cult afterwards to look up the people
- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5One dimensional characters so irredeemable that they had me grinding my teeth. There was no one to be invested in.
- Rating: 1 out of 5 stars1/5I thought there would be some amount of mystery, but I found this dull and cringeworthy. All the cult stuff is unbelievable and boring.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Couldn't put it down!!! Awesome twist at the end. Highly recommend!

- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5Second book by LB where minor things don’t add up. I find that annoying. Not a complete waste of time, but not great, or even good.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Very engaging story. Not the usual pablum. Will look for more by author

- Rating: 1 out of 5 stars1/5The premise had so much potential but I hated the twist at the end.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5To see from different view points was great!
The narration was not the best. - Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5The ending was predictable however the it was still a good book. The motive of the mother had me guessing until the end. I am glad a read this one.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Great book, would definitely recommend. The ending was a bit unexpected being a mother and all. I for sure didn't see it coming.
- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5I enjoyed the story as a whole, but the narration was terrible, rife with mispronounciations and grating, nasal tones. This would have been a much more pleasant listening experience if quality narrators had been used. It was a chore to trudge through this one because of it.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5I didn’t care too much for this book. Took a while to get to the point. I believe around chapter 15 when I start to see where the book is going. I read books with these twist.
HUGE SPOILER BELOW!!!!!!!
I did not need 58 chapters to get the point. The point being at the very last chapter was just to much - Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5It was an amazing book and I loved every bit of it but the ending was absolute garbage. Not what I was thinking would happen at all. I guess it makes sense logically with how it would work in real life but, idk man I didn’t want it to go down like that.
