Born in Germany to a British Army family, he spent his formative years being dragged around the vestiges of Colonialism before finally being deposited at the Duke of York’s Royal Military School, where at the age of 11 he first learned how to march and fire a gun. This is where he also learned of the importance of tunnels, a recurring theme in “Task Force Nightshade”.After being rejected from a summer job at MacDonald’s, AJ Huston bluffed his way into Cambridge to study English, although unpartisan observers may dispute the use of the verb “study”. From the gorgeousness of Cambridge, Huston subsequently found himself in the horror of the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, where people made him run around a lot carrying heavy things.From Sandhurst he worked in the world of Military Intelligence, which mostly involved sticking pins in maps and taking credit for other people’s work. His work took him to many interesting countries, and he worked with many interesting people, some of whom he even liked.Every country he went to was better off when he left.
