Samuel's philosophy as an erotica writer is to write a regular fantasy story with a real plot and fully-realized characters, but to replace all the action scenes called for by a standard plot outline ... with sex. Conversely, the stories contain about as much fighting and violence as a regular story might have of sex scenes. Similarly, while the sex is portrayed in graphic, unstinting detail, the violence is portrayed more tastefully, and sometimes "off-camera". Samuel hopes to start a new trend in fiction, building on the underrepresented tradition of "erotica with plot" to work toward a "make love not war" sub-genre of fantasy.
A. A. Samuel has also been known to make wild declarations without clarifying their relative level of facetiousness.view less
