    A whimsical fairy story for early readers and ESL classes by Joyce Sandilands, adapted from a short story written by her husband/author, J. Robert Whittle. It is set in Fairyland where leprechauns, fairies and everything imaginable is magical.
    Paddy is a leprechaun who lives in Fairyland. He wants to become a Moonbeam Rider. He's told that Moonbeam Riders have a lot of fun travelling down moonbeams and they also help Earth children solve their problems. The Fairy Queen tells Paddy that to become a Moonbeam Rider he must first stop using his magic for mischief and also improve his math marks. This frustrates Paddy terribly and he now thinks his goal is going to be way too much trouble. His best friends, Jake, the Parrot, Mr. Cricket and the fairies and leprechauns get on his case. What will he do?

      Leprechaun Magic

      Chapter 1 ~ Paddy, the Leprechaun

      Jake, the blue and green parrot, was very excited. He was flying around and around over Fairyland School. He was waiting for his friend Paddy, the leprechaun. Paddy was writing a math test today, a very special math test.

      Yesterday, Jake had offered to help Paddy pass that test.

      No thanks, said Paddy. I don’t want to cheat. If I use your magic, the Fairy Queen will get mad. She will never let me be a Moonbeam Rider.

      Paddy and Jake live in Fairyland. Fairyland is a really cool place. Just about everything here is magical and school ends at Grade Four.

      When Paddy graduates, he wants to be a Moonbeam Rider. He wants to travel through the sky like a shooting star. He wants to have fun.
