Acknowledgements – I truly thank God for all he has given me. Within the span of each day there are so many things to be thankful for in which we often do not notice or acknowledge. This is my chance to exhale and give praise for all of these things. For the aches and pains of growing (either up or old), I am thankful. For all who attribute to my success whether knowingly or unknowingly, I thank you. For those who ride out a storm with you and allow you comfort, I thank you. There are so many thanks that I hope each of you know and believe that without the part that make up the whole none of this would be possible.
Thank you to each and every one of you for your support and encouragement.
Plan B (Some Kind of Crazy)
Loretta’s eyes feasted on the bulging chest muscles of Preston before finally catching her quickened breath. The tattooed black lion growling on his pecks beckoned her attention. Her eyes locked on to the lion as her heart raced. How had we gotten this far, Loretta wondered as she pried her eyes away from his deliciously sculptured body.
Wait, I have something I must do.
She said quickly, as she regained some of her senses. She pulled her five foot six inch slender frame up from the soft mustard colored sofa and slowly exited the room. Her legs were unsteady as she walked. Her center tingled with the thought of anticipated pleasures. She looked back over her shoulder at him as her eyes sent silent promises of pleasure. She nearly stumbled as she headed towards the bedroom. Her legs threatened to betray her. She knew he must be thinking that she was crazy or, at the very least, playing games.
Truth was she was not playing games because she was a master gamer; this meant that she had reached a point where her game was as strong as any man.
With each step she regained her composure. When she reached her bedroom she grabbed her cell phone which sat on the nightstand, retrieved the number she was searching for from the memory and picked up her home phone. In a hurry, she dialed *67, to hide her number, before the number she desired. She quickly scanned the doorway to make sure he did not follow behind her.
She pressed the phone to her ear as her heart began to race once again. The phone rang four times and she feared she may be out of luck. She ran her hands through her curly shoulder length hair as she waited. Her thoughts drifted to Preston and that fine ass body of his. They had been dating for nearly five weeks and she wanted, no correction, her body needed a bit of what he had to offer. She had been to his house the day before and now she needed to follow up on the nagging feeling that interrupted her enjoying the feast waiting in the living room.
‘Pick up’ she said aloud, her voice sounded raspy to her ears.
As if on command, a soft voice sounded on the other end. Hello
a woman answered.
Loretta sprung into action. She did not want the call to end before she got the answers she needed.
You don’t know me but I got your number yesterday when I was at your house.
The woman on the other end could almost be heard shaking her head as she said, "You were where?"
At your house,
Loretta continued, as if she carried on this type of conversation everyday. You see, Preston told me you and he were living like roommates; so I thought I would check with you first before I shared my sweet meat with him. You see I don’t want to disrespect another sister, so I decided to call and get my facts straight first.
Loretta’s tone remained causal while her conversation companion was near boil over.
"How did you get my number?" the woman demanded. Loretta could tell the woman was furious but that simply did not concern her.
Loretta just wanted the answer to her question before the hot feast she had waiting in the living room cooled off. She sighed and said, I used your home phone and dialed my cell and stored the number. Now I need to know what the deal is before I proceed any further with Preston
Taking in all that was being told to her, the woman who was too hot for words finally found a few and pressed on. "Whatever, how do I know you are telling the truth?"
Loretta punched the mute button and half yelled and sang into the other room, Be right with you baby. This is really important.
She turned her attention back to her phone call. Her finger hit the mute button once again, allowing the conversation to continue.
I can put him on if you want but I still would like to know the deal.
At this point, Loretta could almost feel the heat coming through the phone, "If we weren’t living as roommates before then we will now! Can I speak to my husband, please?" The woman struggled to remain in control as tears rolled down her face and humiliation filled her soul.
The word ‘husband’ momentarily stunned her but Loretta remained composed. She casually walked into the living room still holding the phone. She unbuttoned her blouse and gestured for Preston not to speak. With her free hand she beckoned him forward. Her eyes trailed down to the bulge in his pants, she smiled wickedly. His eyes fell on the full overflowing mahogany D cups lying under a satin red bra. He slid from the sofa onto his knees. He then crawled over to her and began to plant slow hot kisses on her stomach and he eased upward to her breast. He began to lightly bite her through her bra. She ran her hands through his curly salt and pepper hair. She had to admit he was feeling damn good. She stood still for a moment and enjoyed the sensations of his touch. He reached up to unfasten her bra but instead he was met by her halting hand. Smiling, she handed the cordless phone to Preston.
He looked at her with a questioning look on his face as he placed the phone to his ear. Loretta observed his shocked reaction as he listened to his wife. Caught in his own web of lies, Preston threw a darting look in Loretta’s direction as he scrambled off the floor. He hurried to the sofa and grabbed his shirt. Between ‘listen baby’ and ‘just let me explain’ Loretta laughed uncontrollably while he dawned his shirt, threw the cordless phone at her and left her house. Cars passed on the street not slowing or giving way as he crossed over to reach his car. She hoped one of them would run him down as he was making his get away. She stood in the door and watched as he climbed into his car. She continued to laugh. She laughed so hard tears escaped from the corner of her eyes; she literally laughed Preston into his car and out of her life.
Loretta closed the door and returned to her living room. Her eyes fell upon a picture of her parents nestled in a silver frame. The laughing ended suddenly. Loretta wished she could keep laughing but the gravity of the situation now weighed on her. She realized yet another man had tried to run game on her but this time she was ready. Funny how she was learning the tricks men played better than the men who played them. She was proud of the level in which she could out-game a gamer but she also had to admit; she was lonely. What does it take to find a man who will be there for me, she wondered. How had her life gotten to this point? Another Friday night alone was not what she had in mind she thought as she slumped down in her seat. Sighing loudly, she thought, all she ever wanted was her prince charming to complete her life. A single tear began to fall from her eyes.
She thrashed about as the sheets from her queen sized bed tangled with her sleeping body. The memory was so strong; she lay as if she was sitting in an actual chair. She struggled to push the memory of Preston out of her mind. Her legs extended to relieve the tension building within. She twisted and turned as her dreams continued to flow. Unknown to Loretta a single tear stained a tiny spot on her pillow case. Flipping over to get more comfortable, Loretta continued to sleep, her mind playing back her life as if on DVD.

"What am I, a magnet for the unfaithful? When in the world did my life get like this?" She asked aloud, frustration clear in her voice. She plopped down further into the comfort of the leather recliner which sat in the corner of her living room. She extended her arm and grabbed the comforter from the arm of the sofa. She pulled the comforter up to her neck and adjusted her feet on the foot stand. Mumbling under her breath she damned Preston once again. Shifting in the chair she remembered to add Matt to the list of men who had plucked her last nerve as well. How dare they play with her emotions? What do I have to do to find the man for me, she mused, still full of anger. She continued to shift hoping to find a comfortable spot in her favorite chair. She drifted off to sleep as she became more relaxed in the recliner. She had thought her love life would improve after she’d graduated from college. Slowly, her thoughts carried her back to her college days. Loretta wrestled in her chair as memories flooded her brain and tormented her rest.
College was so far away from home that she craved the smell of smog and the clutter of a crowded, noisy city. The beauty of the southern sky did little to soothe the longing she had for home. There was, by all standards, no place like New Jersey for Loretta. She enjoyed the comfort of city life. She missed being close to the people and things she was familiar with and she missed home. But no one knew how she felt because she never shared her personal feelings with any of the other students there. She was there to attend college and finish her degree and go back home. She had decided there was nothing that was going to distract her from her mission. Not even the long miles of Interstate 95. Loretta was plagued by loneliness, but her schoolwork kept her busy. So she decided to get over her loneliness and make the best of things. After all it was what it was.
She also decided to get out and make friends and
