()
About this ebook
Rheumatic Fever can cause severe problems to your body. From a simple infection of the throat due to certain streptococcus (strep throat), untreated cases may develop to rheumatic fever, and repeated incidents may advance to problems on your heart valves. It could be a life-threatening matter once it involves the heart. The heart, as we all know, is a vital organ, responsible to supply blood rich in oxygen and nutrients to every cell, tissue, and organ in the body. By the time its function is disturbed, the whole body could really be affected, and the health of the individual would suffer. If you, or a loved one, are suffering from rheumatic fever, this book guides you through the causes, tests, and available treatment options for this life-threatening disease.

Introduction
Everything is connected to everything else
--- this is the principle of how our organs work. Whatever happens to one cell would affect the other neighboring cells, one tissue to another nearby tissue, one organ to another connected organ. Good, if it’s beneficial, like the supplying of blood to the different organs which we basically need, the actions of muscle tissues to help us move, and the impulses sent to and from the different stations of our nervous system. But if damage gets between the so-called connections, then it’s a serious matter.
A good example of this serious matter
would be Rheumatic Fever, which can cause severe problems to your body.
Before you get stuck with this problem, prepare yourself --- know your opponent, get some tactics and win over your health… and your family’s health as well.
Overview and History: How was Rheumatic fever discovered?
Rheumatic fever or RF is known to be one of the most common causes of pediatric heart disease in the world. It accounts to be the root of structural heart problems in most heart cases in children. The disease has been known for many years, and was guilty of taking millions of lives of little ones until 1960.
The study of rheumatic fever had a long run since there were a number of signs and symptoms, and factors to consider. The manifestations of the condition were studied and distinguished carefully: Baillou first differentiated acute arthritis from gouty arthritis since arthritis had varying causes. Sydenham described chorea (jerky body movements and emotional outbursts) but didn’t relate it with acute Rheumatic fever. Charles Wells associated rheumatism with carditis (inflammation of the heart)
