About this ebook

This is a fiction story of how the world’s largest computer company succeeded in the computer mainframe industry while other, smaller companies perished.

We’ll call the largest computer company “Hal” and the largest and most competitive of the other seven, smaller companies, “Tarzan.”

Because it was so much larger than the other seven companies, Hal was often referred to as “Snow White,” and the others were called the “Seven Dwarfs.”

This story shows how inventing a better mousetrap doesn't guarantee success unless a company institutes a great marketing operation.

The story may sound "real," but it represents the author's opinions which may be erroneous and self-serving.

In addition, this story is very dry and devoid of anything interesting except to a few people who were in the computer business during the 1960s and 1970s. It is not recommended reading for the average story consumer.

In this story, the "Hal" computer company is behind the "Tarzan" computer company from a technological standpoint. But Hal was way ahead of Tarzan in its marketing approach.

In no way is the intent of this story to indicate that one company is better than another company. It is simply a fiction story invented by the author.

The interesting designs of Tarzan engineers were adopted by computer manufacturers many years ago. This story discusses some of those leading-edge technical designs that are now commonplace in the computer world.
