About this ebook

Have you ever wondered why people who have met with the Lord for a good number of years haven’t particularly changed their character? Why are Christians in almost all areas of life behaving and doing things just like everybody else? These and some other questions are answered in this book.

Learn how having an unlimited mindset powered by the Holy Spirit can change your eternal destiny and your life now here on earth. There is the need to renew our minds even though we have encountered the Lord Jesus and the Holy Spirit is already in our spirit. This book looks at the need for us to allow the Holy Spirit in us to take control of our soul─which is where our mind is, so that the change in our spirit can manifest on the outside.

    Mind - - Akinwale Kola-Ayannowo

    Dedication

This book is dedicated first to my precious Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, who has given to me, and all those who believe in Him—the gift of eternal life. I thank and praise the Lord for inspiring me to write my second book, which is aimed at helping Christians develop their minds spiritually. This book is also dedicated to every living being on earth, to let you know that God cares for you and wants to meet with you.

    Introduction

As Christians, we know that the Bible tells us:

For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast (Ephesians 2: 9-10).

What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound? Certainly not! How shall we who died to sin live any longer in it (Romans 6:1-2).

It is obvious from the second Scripture that as Christians with the help of God’s grace, we need to address the issue of walking away from our sins and moving toward pleasing God, who has called us. It is definitely a gradual process with which we need to cooperate with the Holy Spirit within us, to achieve. The word ‘mind’ is quite a common word that we humans use in our conversations. We say things like, ‘My mind is not made up yet’ when we are still trying to decide on something or, ‘I’ve made up my mind and this is what I’m going to do’ when we have decided on what to do.

Based on these examples, it is evident that the mind of a man plays a vital role in his decision-making in life and will determine whether he succeeds or fails in life. Even more important, the mindset of a man plays a major role in deciding his destiny and final destination at the end of his life. Therefore, it is of paramount importance that we humans keep learning about issues pertaining to the mind because we do not fully understand the mind. Likewise, we have to keep on learning about the body and the spirit.

The word ‘mind’ appears 95 times in the King James version of the Bible and a closer look reveals that the Bible actually talks about the mind of man, the mind of Christ and the mind of God.

Philippians 2.5 says: Let this same attitude and purpose and humble mind be in you which was in Christ Jesus (Let Him be your example in humility). (Amplified Bible)

In the previous verse we can see the word of God linking attitude, purpose and humility with the MIND.

Jeremiah 19.5: They have also built the high places of baal, to burn their sons with fire for burnt offerings to baal, which I did not command or speak, nor did it come into My mind.

Another interesting thing about the mind is that it can unite people or separate them, make you one with Christ or separate you from Christ. This is why as Christians we are encouraged to have the ‘mind of Christ’ so that we can be one with Him, think like Him and do the things He did while on earth. We must have all at some point heard of the saying, ‘Birds of the same feathers flock together’. It is all about being of one-mind and doing things together the same way and with the same pattern.

Some years back, the Holy Spirit made me realise the importance of the Bible as a Christian; that without my spending good quality time to read, study and meditate on God’s word it would be difficult for me to understand the way God thinks, and how to be like Him. I say this because the Bible is an exposition of God’s mind to Man and a deeper exploration of the above Scriptures signify that God the Father has His own mind and Jesus Christ has His own mind, also. I want to go a bit further and declare that the Holy Spirit of God has His own mind, too.

Romans 8.6: For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. To be spiritually minded is to have the mind of the Holy Spirit".

The Amplified Bible translation: The mind of the flesh (which is sense and reason without the Holy Spirit) is death (death that comprises all the miseries arising from sin, both here and hereafter). But the mind of the Holy Spirit is life and (soul) peace (both now and forever).

We will dig more into this Scripture later on in this book. We can see that God the Father, God the Son (Jesus Christ) and God the Holy Spirit each have their own minds in the Trinity but they work together in agreement as one, with one mind and purpose. An example of this illustration is in Genesis 1.26 –27:

"Then God said, Let us make man in Our own image, according to Our likeness, let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the
