Ron Cole-Turner is a professor of theology, an avid traveler, and actively working to bring the historic Christian faith into the modern world by engaging in dialogue with science and technology.He is probably best known as the author of the words of the baptism hymn, "Child of Blessing," which has been printed approximately 10 million times in hymnals around the world.On the science and theology front, he blogs regularly at enhancingtheology.org. And in November, his 6-session adult education guide on "Faith and Science" is available through the Faith Seeking Understanding series.Ron teaches at Pittsburgh Theological Seminary. His courses range from the "Doctrine of the Trinity" to "Christianity and Evolution" to "Popular Christian Literature."He also serves as vice president of the International Society for Science and Religion, based in Cambridge, England.

Chapter 1
Getting There
I discovered Cayo Costa because I was searching for isolation. I wanted a quiet campsite on a remote beach along the Florida Gulf Coast near Fort Myers. I clicked on the website for Cayo Costa State Park and I learned that Cayo Costa means barrier island,
that the island is almost entirely a state park, and that it has tent sites near the beach. I knew immediately that I wanted to camp there. The more I searched for alternatives up and down the beaches and islands along the southwest Florida coast, the more certain I was that nothing offered more isolation and remoteness than Cayo Costa.
So I booked my campsite using the online reservation system and made my plans.
To get to the island, I drove west from Fort Myers across Cape Coral, west another dozen miles or so across Pine Island, and then north to reach the little fishing town of Bokeelia, home port of the Tropic Star, the
