About this ebook
Do you watch television talent shows wishing it was you on the stage?
Do you say to yourself 'I could do better than that'?
Does it annoy you when you know you're better than the majority of X Factor contestants we see on our screens on a Saturday night?
Well my frustrated friends, you're not alone – there are thousands of us all thinking the same. Now you can do something about it.
This book will help get you there. It will take you through preparing for the audition process of tv talent shows like The X Factor and Britain's Got Talent, and suggests a few tips to give you a headstart and stand out from the crowd.
As you work through this book, you'll see what to expect on audition day, how to make a good impression, and even how to make a bad impression (which can sometimes be equally as effective, for different reasons). In Britain examples of the latter are Jedward, Rylan and Wagner. And yet despite their lack of talent, they are very much a part of our national conscience. How on earth they manage to pull it off sometimes is bemusing, and yet therein lays the genius.
Now it's your turn - are you ready to show the world what you can do?

Do you watch television talent shows wishing it was you on the stage?

Well my frustrated friends, you're not alone – there are thousands of us all thinking the same. Now you can do something about it.
Believe it or not, people have been saying the same things for years. The recent explosion of television talent programmes descend from a rich history of entertainment shows. So anything Simon Cowell has come up with really isn’t anything new.
Dating back to the likes of 'Opportunity Knocks' and 'New Faces', talent shows have existed in one form or another. They are all essentially a rehash of each other - even The Voice is a rehash of The X Factor, which in turn is a rehash of Pop Idol.
In a nutshell, they all feature people being put to the sword week in week out, but only after having their soul laid bare on national television. Of course, I jest, it's really not as bad as all that. Just make sure you're too good to send home, and you'll be fine!
Shows like The X Factor have taken the whole genre to a completely new level. With the open door policy on auditions accessible to literally anyone, never before has 'fame' been so reachable to the boy/girl on the street. For once, it really could be you...
Saturday night television traditionally has always been the place for ‘ordinary folk’ to step into the limelight and either make a complete fool of themselves, or wow the viewing millions. Even if it's old favourites like The Generation Game, Bullseye, or more recently Total Wipeout, your anonymity is likely foregone the second those television cameras are on you.
Whether you’re doing the old 1980's classic of spinning plates, eating televisions (yes, it happened!) or standing in front of four X Factor judges, people are going to know you when you walk down the street.
Whether this is a good or bad thing is irrelevant - it's quite simply part and parcel
