About this ebook

Note: Now all of the links seem to work, and all of the sections in bold faced type seem to show correctly in all devices tested. The book has been completely reformatted and I think those problems are solved. If you find anything that looks wrong, or any links that don't work on your device please let me know. Thanks! 08-25-2014

The Rosary for Beginners is written for people who have never prayed a Rosary before, or who feel they did not receive proper instruction in how to pray it—for whatever reason—or who have been away from it for a long enough time they are no longer confident about how to proceed.

The entire contents of the prayer are written out so that none of the prayers need to be memorized before you can pray. The Mysteries of the Rosary are amplified with supporting content from the Bible. Some key concepts are explained to aid in understanding, but this is not a technical piece or an apologetic for the Rosary, it is a guide to praying it. The emphasis is on useful explanation and not technical presentation.

Explanations and supporting Bible content are inserted at the point of use so that they are where you need them and not in another part of the book. The Rosary Prayers actually begin about 900 words into the book.

Even if you do not have a physical set of Rosary Beads you can simply read through the book and keep track of your place and have completed an entire Rosary before the end.

For everything in the book, the design has been to remove impediments to using the book to pray through a Rosary.

I wrote it that way because a number of years ago I found a desire to begin praying the Rosary. I didn't know how to start or what to pray. I hadn't prayed a Rosary since I was a child. I searched for a guide to show me how to pray a Rosary and found many guides, but all of them assumed that one already knew how to pray it or had a background in the concepts. It took me a long time to learn the concepts on my own and this is the guide I wish I could have found back then.

The contents of my little book could certainly be expanded on in every way. But, this isn't for Rosary veterans with years of experience. It is for beginners.

I think the best way to learn about the Rosary is to just pray it, not study about it or talk about it, but to do it, just as the best way to learn of Jesus is to spend time with him.

The Rosary is not an end, it is a tool; it helps us move. It is a sign; it points to Jesus Christ. It is a prayer; it connects us to God. The ultimate end of this guide is to help people connect to God. The Rosary is one of the wonderful ways to do that. You won't find that out by reading about the guide, or reading about the Rosary.

My hope for you is that as you pray the Rosary: “the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and of revelation, in the knowledge of him: The eyes of your heart enlightened, that you may know what the hope is of the glory of his inheritance in the saints. And what is the exceeding greatness of his power towards us, who believe according to the operation of the might of his power, Which he wrought in Christ, raising him up from the dead, and setting him on his right hand in the heavenly places.” Eph 1:17-20 (RD)

I hope this guide will help.
