    A Christmas Tale of Zombies and Pantomime

    (Note: All zombie conversations in hitherto indecipherable dialect have been translated for your convenience.)

    It was two o’ clock on a Saturday afternoon when it happened, half an hour before the matinee performance of Cinderella was due to start. That was when the horde of zombies bashed down the door. This entrance was overly dramatic seeing as the door wasn’t actually locked and they could have just turned the handle like any sensible person, but hordes of zombies aren’t generally known for being sensible and they do like to make a statement.

    The zombies, as you would expect, thrashed and chomped their way through the pathetic, screaming cast of the Downtown Community Theatre Company’s Cinderella, all of whom had been preparing for their performance in their communal dressing room. Luckily for the zombies, there were no heroes or he-men in this cast to put up any kind of battle.

    And then the zombies left. Off to find another production to disrupt, no doubt.

    Only minutes before, the cast had been having animated conversations about which of their friends were coming to the performance and whether or not they were going to remember their lines. Now all they could manage was the odd grunt and an involuntary jolt of the limbs that remained attached to their bodies.

    Cinderella was the first to stir. She pushed herself up to a sitting position and looked around the dressing room, her head lolling from side to side on account of
