Romy founded Gingras Global, LLC in February of 2011. Dreams and visions of sustainability began fueling the effort back in 2006 when she started to view global outreach with the eyeglasses of business and financial planning. Initially, taking an observant role in the outreach, Romy quickly realized that there was a need for unity of efforts; unity both locally and globally to harness resources and talents. In April of 2012, she sold Gingras Financial and left an industry after 23 years of practice. Romy now uses her strategic planning and gifts of connectivity for a higher calling and purpose.Romy has spent many years consulting large financial organizations on profitability and development along with the entrepreneurial start-ups. After 25 years her leadership is concise and effective. Romy has started many businesses along the way from hobbies-turned-business to operations that were sold in the marketplace and exist today. She talks often of the failures that provided the “skin-your-knees” education you can only acquire by experiencing failure. Her 25 years of consulting in the financial world brought a wide variety of knowledge on subjects such as tax, legal, cash flow planning, business operations for both the profit and non-profit sectors.Business mission travel has brought opportunities to Romy she never expected. She found she had a passion for all different people groups and cultures. Along the way, she discovered that business can bring unity AND solutions to world issues.Skills of connectivity come naturally to Romy as she seemingly connects resources effortlessly.Romy obtained a Bachelor of Science degree from Northern Michigan University in 1990. She then went on to obtain a CLU designation from the American College, and a Certified Financial Planning designation from the College of Financial Planning.Along with strong connectivity gifts Romy also has the organizational & analytical strength to pull off large scaled events or launch businesses from concept to 5 year sustainable cash flow. Her ability to stand in the storm when others take shelter pushes the envelope of tenacity. If you want to have some fun just ask Romy to speak at one of your events. Humor infused life stories with direct calls for action make for an entertaining event! You won’t spend more than a few minutes with Romy before you catch the passion and excitement she has for business people and business efforts around the world.Romy is spent most of her childhood in the Petoskey area of Michigan and is currently living in the southeast Michigan area with her husband, Christopher. Preface
Why this series?
This series which I have named Notes from the Field is taken directly from my notes of observance in the trenches of social enterprise development.
As I began to notice reoccurring patterns of misunderstandings, failures, and successes I began to communicate my observations. As persons from all backgrounds would listen to the observation, they would often laugh a little, and then make some type of statement such as Yes, I guess that is obvious
or Oh, okay, well that seems obvious.
What seems obvious after we gain awareness is not always obvious on the surface. I know this because I keep watching the same repeating patterns of misunderstanding happen over and over again! Not so obvious after all!
So, the notes turned into small communications which turned into trainings. The trainings turned into presentations. And, now, the presentations have turned into a series of books.
Please know this is not all of my observations. I am not arrogant enough to assume someone wants to hear about everything I observe. :)
These are the repeat offenders. This is not meant to be a full training on social enterprise but a facilitation of understanding.
It is my desire that these notes will help educate and empower both social enterprises themselves and those who support them.
Why this book?
I have been jotting down repeating themes for years now when I watch social entrepreneurs interact with potential investors. While it all seems polite on the surface, I have been pulled aside on many occasions asking for help in translation and clarification.
So, I have written about the main themes that seem to have potential relationships crisscrossing. It is my thought that if I can just provide some basics to each party then maybe we can move a little closer to some long term success.
So, this book is not full of financial formulas or genius level secrets. It is mere sets of observances specific to investor and social entrepreneur misunderstandings.
I did, however, give some suggestions and easy methods to gain understanding as quick as possible.
This book is written for the social entrepreneur. I have also written a mirror sister companion book for the investor.
I would encourage you to take notes for yourself and do some good self-discovery during this process of learning. It is my belief that this information will help you have a positive experience with
