    This book is dedicated to three mentors I have had that shaped my business and my life.

    Julius Toth taught me more about selling than anyone. His sales prowess is mythic. In one year, he was the top distributor for a company with over 100,000 distributors. He isn’t a person; he’s a force of nature. He has proven himself to be a good friend, and I’m glad he counts me as one of his.

    Bob Durbin is simply the best man I know. He taught me how to do business with the customer in mind. He showed me what you become when you dedicate yourself to being a good person. He is genuine to a fault. And I would be a different person if I never met him.

    My Dad was a blue collar electrician for the Ford Motor Company in Berea Ohio. He had his share of defects; but I’ll say this; he never lied to me that I know of. He never cheated anyone, and always treated his family well. He was always willing to help me in any way I asked, and he was damn good at what he did. I don’t think Dad really understood what I did for a living, but it didn’t matter. Cancer killed him slowly and viciously. Every time you hear about someone dying from cancer, they are called brave and courageous. It’s not bravery to suffer. But my dad didn’t complain until the very end. He was a Marine when he was young. He was always a Marine. I miss him terribly.

    My wife Cheryl... What can I say? I chose well. If you ever watch me get a stupid grin on my face for no reason, I’m thinking of her. The joke is, either I did something wonderful in a previous life, or she did something terrible... because we are together. Anyway, it’s a pleasure growing old with her. And knowing she feels the same way is better than any other gift.
