Your Personality Code:
The Astrological Analysis
Almost everyone has heard of Astrology, and most people know their Sun Sign. But from the perspective of gaining insight into your personality, what does it mean to be an Aries, a Taurus, or one of the other Sun signs? What are the implications? Does your Sun Sign tell us anything meaningful about you? Considering there are only 12 Sun Signs, does that mean you share the same characteristics with one-twelfth of humankind? Is it possible that Astrology only provides you with a set of generalities that can apply to everybody with the same Sun Sign?
These are some of the logical questions many people ask themselves when they think about whether Astrology has something to offer them in their effort to understand themselves and others. You are not a replica of every other person with the same Sun Sign born during the same specific period of any given year!
Human beings are complex individuals, and a system that aims at stating something about such complicated beings needs to be a differentiated and comprehensive system indeed. This holds true for Astrology as well. If, for example, you were born on April 18, and therefore know that you are an Aries
in astrological terms, this is only a statement about the position of the Sun at the very moment you took your first independent breath. Seen from the Earth, the Sun was in the zodiac sign of Aries when you were born.
To give a complete description of someone's personality, the Astrologer must consider more than just the position of the Sun in a person's birth horoscope. The location of the Moon and the other eight planets in the Solar System play a significant role, too. The position of each of these celestial bodies has its own significance. And how these positions relate to each other helps to define the mix of character traits attributed to an individual—qualities that cause them to be unique and special.
The Astrologer, therefore, looks at how the various characteristics interact and tries to identify those that are complementary to one another or indicate challenges or disharmony. By looking at the various positions of the Sun, Moon, and planets in the birth horoscope, one can get an impression of the talents and abilities bestowed on an individual. It is also possible to gain some insight into the areas of tension in the person's character, to determine the problems and challenges they will encounter, and to examine the potential for development and personal growth they will or will not realize during their lifetime.
Precise information about birth time and place is required to determine the various positions of the Sun, Moon, and planets in an individual's horoscope. The Astrologer can carry out their calculations by using books containing tables, logarithms, or computer programs. But calculations alone are not enough.
More importantly, the Astrologer who aims to achieve a competent description of a person's character or personality will try to determine the influence the various positions of the celestial bodies have on one another in the chart. While weighing all the various aspects against one another, the Astrologer will estimate the likely result of specific combinations. The task is far from easy, and not every Astrologer succeeds in accomplishing it entirely accurately.
So, to make Astrology less difficult and increasingly accessible to more people, it has become fairly common practice (in the media) nowadays to take only the position of the Sun as a starting point to describe personality traits and possibilities. It would be impossible to account for every possible configuration of planets, Sun, and Moon when writing a column, article, or book offering interpretations for the general public!
This simplification has the great benefit that astrological interpretations become clear-cut when one only has to deal with the meaning of the position of the Sun in the 12 signs of the zodiac. The great disadvantage, of course, is that the interpretations apply to large groups of people in a general way and are not very specific for each unique individual.
Nevertheless, it is not illogical to only deal with information relating to the position of the Sun. When you appreciate the all-important physical influence the Sun has on Earth, it is a small step to realize that in Astrological terms, the Sun will also be very influential in people's lives.
In a physical sense, we would have no light or heat without the Sun—there would be no life on Earth. From an astrological perspective, one cannot explore or define certain aspects of personality without knowing the position of the Sun at the time an individual was born. If, when working with Astrology, you only
deal with the role of the Sun, you definitely account for the essential cornerstone in the description of personality, even if you leave out the information the other celestial bodies supply.
Your Personality Code:
The Numerological Analysis
Numerology is not as well-known as Astrology, but it is also a system that allows you to gain an understanding of character traits, talents, and the potential for growth and development of any person who interests you. The foundation of using Numerology for these purposes is accredited to Pythagoras, who lived approximately 500 years before Christ. He assumed numbers have a quantitative meaning (one used in mathematics) and also a qualitative one. This qualitative aspect can be seen symbolically, with each number having its own inner attributes. If you would like to gain insight into the personality of an individual, according to the guidelines of Numerology, all you have to do is look at the qualities and personality traits that go with the numbers—numbers that can be derived from that person's birth date.
There are numerous ways of deriving numerical values for doing a numerological study. As in Astrology, where you have to consider the positions of the celestial bodies and take into consideration their interaction with one another before offering an interpretation, likewise in Numerology, you will have to work with an intricate system in which the various numbers combine and influence each other in a variety of ways. Numerologists also study various data they interpolate before finishing their analysis. They consider the date of birth, the numerical value of the letters of the alphabet in names, the vowels that are part of a name, the initials, etc.
If one learns to interpret the interacting meanings of these various numbers, then Numerology is a system that allows for deep insight into someone's personality. Just as interpreting a birth horoscope is a complex task in Astrology, the tables and graphs needed for a Numerology interpretation are very complex.
This exercise can be simplified by deciding to leave most numbers (and how they interact with one another) out of consideration, taking only the Birth Number into account. The benefit, again, is clarity and the possibility of having a quick method to use that allows us to gain insight into an individual's personality, character traits, and talents. The disadvantage is, of course, generalization.
If we only consider the personality traits that are reflected in a specific Birth Number naturally, these traits will apply not only to one unique person but to all people that have the same Birth Number. On the other hand, the Birth Number is a fundamental concept in Numerology that can be used as the foundation for further interpretations of a complete delineation sheet.
Your Personality Code:
A combination of Astrology and Numerology.
The Personality Code
offers a unique combination that enables you to gain insights into your personality in a simple yet very accurate way.
You can use Astrology to gain a deeper understanding of your personality. Numerology also offers a way to gain similar insight. Both use quite different premises and methods to delineate the characteristics that make up a personality. Both systems are complicated and comprehensive, and to achieve satisfactory results and come up with genuinely descriptive personality analyses requires a lot of study and a great deal of experience and skill of the Astrologer or the Numerologist. However, as explained previously, both systems make it possible to gain a simple but general understanding of your personality without having to learn complex calculations and study intricate interpretation techniques. This insight, delivered by Sun Sign or Birth Number, comes at the cost of precision (you are, after all, a unique individual).
Circumventing this lack of precision, it is possible to combine both simplified methods from the Astrological and Numerological disciplines. It is possible to generate top-quality, specific, and to-the-point
personality descriptions by forging an amalgamation of the knowledge available in the Sun Sign and Birth Number teachings. This blend will offer much more information than could be obtained from either the list of Sun Sign characteristics or of Birth Number qualities. By studying the interaction between Sun Sign and Birth Number traits and how they complement or counteract each other, it is possible to detect specific themes and threads in someone's personality and behavior that are much harder to discover when only one discipline is applied.
By combining Astrology and Numerology to create personality Codes, the Aries Sun Sign, for instance, forms only one dimension or part of the personality. Now we can see that there are 11 kinds of Aries—because each Aries will have their Birth Number, thereby having their way of expressing how they are being an Aries.
In this book, you can find out how the characteristics that are a part of each Sun Sign combine with the qualities of each Birth Number and unravel your Personality Code.
You will find that this method of combining the information gives you a simple but differentiated, specific, and logical system to describe and understand the people in your life (or the people who interest you)! You will more easily discern their motivation and the reasons for their behavior.
For instance, if you know an Aries, you probably know that they are an active, ready-to-go, energetic person who takes the initiative, is full of ideas and doesn't find it particularly hard to make decisions. If this person has the Aries-1 Personality Code (their Sun Sign is Aries, and their Birth Number is 1
), besides being an Aries and having all of those Aries Sun Sign personality traits,
they also have characteristics of people with the Birth Number 1. Birth Number 1 people prefer having things their own way. They speak their mind freely and have a treasure trove of ideas. Consequently, the Aries-1
person in your life likes to solve problems and never lacks ideas about how to do so! They are likely to be highly enthusiastic, filled with energy, and determined to defend their plans, no matter what.
However, if the Aries you know is a Birth Number 4 individual (the Aries-4 Personality Code), they might seem to act differently. A Birth Number 4 person likes to take on responsibilities and is often aware that they have a duty to others to meet expectations. Consequently, a person with an Aries-4
Personality Code, while still someone who easily becomes enthusiastic about plans and who is willing, even excited about starting a new venture (the Aries part of their personality), will be very concerned about doing everything they can to achieve the goals they set out to accomplish—within the time frame originally projected, or within the financial boundaries set out at the beginning (the Birth Number 4 part of their character).
As you can see from the brief description of the Aries-1 and Aries-4, differing aspects of their personalities can appear interestingly in similar situations. The Aries Sun Sign qualities and the Number 1 characteristics support and strengthen
one another. A person with this combination is unlikely to experience much internal friction. This may make life easy for them on the one hand, but on the other hand, it will also be unlikely that they are willing to recognize any impulse for self-correction. With this personality combination, the individual will probably have one primary way of responding to all situations. The Aries with the Aries-4 Personality Code will be much more conflicted in their response to various situations. They will deal with internal struggles on every level, making life much more challenging. However, these conflicting qualities are likely to cause them to achieve greater success, and in the end, they may accomplish more in their lives than any other Aries Personality Code.
In Astrology, there are 12 Sun Signs in the Zodiac. The descriptions offered in this book include the 12 Sun Signs combined with 9 basic Birth Numbers and 2 Master Birth Numbers
(the Birth Numbers 11
and 22
). So you will find 12 times 11 possible combinations in this book, 132 descriptions of 132 different personality types, each with its own peculiarities, talents, life themes, modes of taking action, and opportunities for development and personal growth.
Obviously, none of the descriptions can compare with having your horoscope delineated by an Astrologer or having your numbers discussed by a Numerologist. Nevertheless, these 132 descriptions will offer you a much more specific perspective for understanding your own personality and those of the people who are important to you than anything you have ever found in the general descriptions available for readers of Sun Sign descriptions.
To gain this level of understanding and insight into yourself and the people in your life, all you have to know is a date of birth and how to add up a maximum of eight different numbers!
In Appendix I, there is a table in which you can look up the Sun Sign according to the date of birth. In Appendix II, you can follow the simple calculations necessary to determine a Birth Number and Personality Code. Finally, in Appendix III, you can read descriptions of the general characteristics of each Birth Number (both the basic and master numbers). You will find the general descriptions of personality traits common to each specific Sun Sign at the beginning of each chapter in this book.
ARIES
If you were born an Aries, you were born an individualist. You love to make your own plans and do what you want. You can give in to other people's wishes and be loyal to others who are important to you, but you always need to be clear about what's in it for you. Your interests play a key role in your interactions with other people (although it must be said in your favor that, most times, you may simply want to satisfy your curiosity about something before becoming involved in it).
Mostly, you find it inconvenient and unsatisfactory to have to comply with the wishes or rules other people live by, and you certainly don't like to have to justify your actions to them. Even as a child, you were strong-willed (some might even say headstrong), which is not likely to have changed when you became an adult. If you feel you are being restricted or curtailed by other people (or by circumstances), you will certainly resist whatever is being suggested.
Being an Aries, you want to be free, and you want to feel free. Whenever you feel fenced in,
you will seek ways to rid yourself of any bonds you feel are holding you back, amicably, or forcibly, whichever works.
Whatever can be said about your qualities as an Aries, one thing is certain: you will never run out of ideas. It's easy for you to take the initiative in all kinds of situations, and you always have the energy you need to do the things that interest you. You may be such an idealist that you don't stop to think about reality
and the practical consequences of your actions and ideas. You impulsively dive into any adventure as long as it promises to be exciting or innovative and offers a great deal of variety.
Many people think of you as courageous and daring—and you are—but having to show how willing you are to take a dare may often have more to do with being thoughtless than anything else. You act before you think, which may cause you to end up in a precarious mess. The people around you admire how you handle these critical situations, but you might never have had to deal with them if you had thought your way through things in the first place! Not that you mind having a tough time because you have more than one arrow in your quiver, and you are full of confidence about what the future may hold for you. You are an optimist and look on the bright side of life. Moreover, you believe in yourself and everything you offer.
You create an atmosphere of action and excitement around you. You can be competitive, and you may be very forceful in your interactions with others—if only to prove that you are better and stronger than them. You can be very ambitious and willing to fight vigorously for what you believe to be a good cause. You speak your mind freely and make no secret of your opinions. You rarely consider the possibility that your bluntness may offend others, nor do you care if it does.
Even if you notice negative reactions from the people around you to your opinions, honesty is far more important to you than tact. Truth be told, you do not have the patience to be wary (or considerate) of the sensibilities of others—it's too much of an effort to exercise a silken tongue—that's not who you are. Honest, outspoken, and direct, that's your preference, and if this results in confrontations with other people, so be it. At least an argument allows you to sharpen your mind and debating skills.
Nevertheless, even though your actions may rub some people the wrong way, even though you may speak sharply and provocatively, and you may be opinionated and prone to antagonize people—these very same people will admire you for your determination, your energy, your willingness to take action and for the swiftness with which you do everything. Many people will be carried along by your zest for living, your spirit, your originality, and your enthusiasm, and many will have a warm and fuzzy spot for you in their hearts.
The above description of the typical Aries will not apply to every Aries in exactly the same way. Naturally, there are differences between the many of you who share the same Aries Sun Sign. Using Numerology and specifically the Birth Number to identify your Personality Code may help you determine what kind of Aries you really are. For instance, if your Birth Number is 1, your Personality Code is Aries-1
. You will surely recognize many things about yourself in the general description of the Aries Sun Sign qualities described above. This is because the personality traits that are a part of the energy of the Birth Number 1 are very similar to the ones that are part of the Aries Sun Sign. However, if your Personality Code is Aries-2 (your Birth Number is 2), you may find that many of these descriptions do not apply to your personality—because Birth Number 2 characteristics differ from Birth Number 1 qualities. The same holds true for the Aries-3, the Aries-4, etc. Let's look at the different expressions of the Aries energy below; let's see how the Birth Number characteristics combine with the Aries Sun Sign information to define the Aries personalities.
ARIES–1
The Energetic Aries
With this combination, you would seem to be a prototype Aries. You are strong and dominant; the Aries qualities mentioned above form a prominent part of your personality. You are original and inventive and have an affinity for innovative ideas and developments. Not only do you adore the latest novelties, but you also tend to be ahead of your time.
This makes you a true trendsetter—not least because you radiate a certain personal power. The world cannot pass you by; you definitely attract attention. You may not consciously try to attract the attention of others, but for some reason, people just naturally pay attention to you.
You believe in yourself, your ideas, and your abilities; whatever you do, you do it vigorously. You grasp things quickly, find the core of a problem instantly, and easily make a decision. Situations others may find problematic are simply an exciting challenge to you, and you love to dive into them and resolve them with all your energy. No wonder other people admire you and choose you as their natural leader. However, being a leader is not one of your goals because you can find your followers a burden. You prefer to work alone and to do things by yourself. You certainly don't want to be held back by the slowness, constraint, or limitations of others.
You are an impatient person. You may be very self-focused, both in thought and in action. It is not natural for you to empathize with others, let alone adapt to their needs. You want everything to move along at lightning speed. If you can run, why walk? Because you can react to situations quickly, you have a tough time understanding people who do not move at the same speed you do. Slowness in any form irritates you; you will certainly let people know this.
