About this ebook

Indy Savage is a former wild child (okay, maybe not-so-former) and current used bookstore owner. Lee Nightingale is a former bad boy (also maybe not-so-former) and now runs a private investigation agency.
Indy has been in love with Lee since she was a little girl and he held her hand during her mother’s funeral. Lee has had a lifetime of dodging Indy’s advances, because he wasn’t ready for commitment.

Now, he’s ready.

The problem is, Indy is not.

Into this mix, toss a quiet barista with a not-so-lawful side business, a crazy Vietnam Vet, a pothead, a drag queen, family and friends who will not mind their own business, a few stun guns and a bag of diamonds, and mix them all up with some shootings, a high-speed chase and car bombs exploding, and hang on for your first wild Rock Chick ride.

Kristen Ashley

Kristen Ashley grew up in Brownsburg, Indiana but has lived in Denver, Colorado and the West Country of England. Thus she has been blessed to have friends and family around the globe. Her posse is loopy (to say the least) but loopy is good when you want to write.Kristen was raised in a house with a large and multi-generational family. They lived on a very small farm in a small town in the heartland and existed amongst the strains of Glenn Miller, The Everly Brothers, REO Speedwagon and Whitesnake (and the wardrobes that matched).Needless to say, growing up in a house full of music, clothes and love was a good way to grow up.And as she keeps growing up, it keeps getting better.

    Rock Chick
    3 Stars

The first book in Kristen Ashley's debut series is light and fun, but some of the shenanigans are over the top and ridiculous.

The heroine, Indy Savage, is likable enough although there are moments when the desire to slap her silly is almost overwhelming. Lee Nightingale is alpha and as sexy as they come, and unlike the heroes in KA's later series (Dream Man, Colorado Mountain), he isn't a jerk. In fact, he knows that Indy is the ONE for him and has the patience of a saint when it comes to dealing with her drama.

KA isn't as proficient at writing suspense as she is at romance. Nevertheless, the minor suspense plot revolving around some missing diamonds has potential even if the execution is only so-so - the mystery of the diamonds remains unresolved and the number of times that Indy gets kidnapped and rescued is absurd.

Despite the above mentioned reservations, Rock Chick is an entertaining read and the writing is certainly more cohesive that KA's later works, which makes me wonder why her more recent books are so long-winded with unnecessary repetition and wordiness.

Fun one! Cross between PI and romance novel with lots of sass and crazy characters. Takes place in my hometown for added fun. I'll keep going with this series and see where it ends up.

I think that this might be my very favorite female heroine of all time. she was so very real to me. the way she looked at things kinda ditzy at times but trying to be cool on the outside. I loved her soo much. I don't usually like the suspense kind of story I just want romance but I found I didnt mind going on the ride. I could easily be the 3rd friend amongst ally and indy. they are my people. excellent character development.

I was pleasantly surprised by this one - I picked it up on a whim, intrigued by the Denver setting more than anything else, and it way exceeded all my expectations! Filled with fun, interesting, eccentric characters (they are often too good to be true, but what the heck, that's why we read fiction, right?), the author provides them with snappy, contemporary dialogue. The push and pull between Indy (Rock Chick) and Liam (Bad-Ass Extraordinaire) is very sexy! I loved the setting, and am proud to say (or should I be slightly ashamed?) I have been to almost every locale mentioned in the book. It's nice to have that nostalgic familiarity with a book! And I really like a strong, independent woman as a lead character, even if she is sometimes a little too independent and doesn't always think about what she may be getting herself into... A bit gritty, but not quite enough to be full on Urban, I think it falls somewhere between Gritty Chick Lit and Urban-lite. I may have to check out the other titles in this series and see if they surprise me, as well.

This book was pretty good. Indy was really childish, but for some reason it didn't bug me. I kept thinking to myself "I should be pissed off by now, this is ridiculous!" but she never pissed me off.

This one was really cute and fun. I laughed out loud a lot.

I can definitely tell that this is an earlier book- the editing is much tighter now, and the books are hotter. I was surprised at how mild the sex scenes in this one was, we didn't get much detail.

I've been told that this is the weakest book in the series, that it was hard to get through and they get better and better. If that's the case, I'm in for a treat, because I really enjoyed this one.

(I did keep looking for the rock chick though, I was expecting someone in a band, not just a fan, lol!)

The heroine is one of those "I do what I want" types, except this translated to her being an idiot and getting kidnapped, stun-gunned and whatever else. Hello dumb broad, get a clue. The hero was dumb about her, too. "I've wanted you my whole life but I had to push you away". Blergh. I did like the secondary characters, though. And, really, as much as it bugged me I couldn't stop reading it.

I am totally in love with this book. I don't think I have ever laughed so hard and so much while reading one book. It was amazing and had all those thigns that I look for in a good plot: good characters, good storyline, good secondary characters, good EVERYTHING! This was not my first book by Kristen Ashley, but this one did it for me: I am now officially her fan! :) If you can, grab this as fast as you can and prepare your selves for a read that it will blow your mind. Blew mine. :)

This was my first Kristen Ashley book... I loved it and it is just what I needed. The last few books I have read made me cry.. This one made me laugh!

I love Indy and Lee! And Hank,Ally,Tod,Stevie, Tex, Duke, Lee's men, Eddie... all of them! Great main characters and side characters! Indy cracked me up, I am so glad she is not a whiny heroine that would of sucked. Lee is hot, I love that he FINALLY knows what he wants and doesn't give up. Though I hate that it took him that long.. Seriously dude, I would of been confused too.

Moving on to the next in the series!

I enjoyed this romantic comedy suspense with a good plot full of humor and lots of action but the heroine had no business going after bad guys and the hero was a little too bossy. By the end everything seemed a little slapstick. Bookstore owner Indy gets shot at and her childhood infatuation Lee now a PI takes on the case.

There are times where you need to pick up a book and just literally escape It doesn't need to be steeped in actual events or even in the remote possibility of reality. It's got to absolutely, totally entertain you from start to finish. Put you on a roller coaster you are screaming not to end. Rock Chick is just this story. Kristen Ashley gives us the long standing unrequited (or not) love story of Indy and Lee. Now, its not the standard girl meets boy, grows up, come together and fall in love. Nope. There are a few pesky things like kidnappings, and a Vietnam Vet who is a coffee savant to name a few. I could tell you more, but I wouldn't dare spoil the fun.

I loved both Indy and Lee's characters. Not that I could relate to them. Well, maybe I love Indy's choice in music. They were just fun and so perfect for each other. Indy feels like she's finally over her crush when her crush just won't let go. And let me tell you, Ms. Ashley can write any story with such a hunky, cocky male lead, and I'll let him hang on. Oh Baby...

Rock Chick is part of series of stories revolving around India Savage and her quirky friends. Do you need to start with Rock Chick? Yes, I think she gives you a good breath of the cast of characters to come without muddling Lee and Indy's story. Is it a cliffhanger or OMG must start the next one? Nope. You could leave Rock Chick here (dare you). Or pick up the next book when you need a very, very funny read. Now, off for my Disco Nap.

The halarity of Rock Chicks runs along the same lines as Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum novels. Although there were a few times I wanted to skim through to get on with the story, overall it was good. I'll definitely be reading the rest of the series eventually.

This book is about India “Indy” Savage and Liam “Lee” Nightingale. Indy’s been in love with Lee since she was five. For various reasons he couldn’t admit he felt the same way until very recently.

Rock Chick reminded me quite a bit of like Stephanie Plum series.
There is the fearless heroine who rushes into danger without thinking. There is the hot, mysterious security guy. There are drag queens, irascible older people, people getting shot at and cars exploding.

This is a horrible romance story. Our heroine is immature and reckless. I never found an ounce of likeability in her. Lee, our hero, is violent, controlling and an asshole. If I'm looking for a nice romance novel, I'm definitely going with LaVyrle Spencer, Nora Roberts, or Suzanne Brockmann.

I absolutely love this series. I suppose it could be called erotic romance because there are sex scenes in it but the stories behind this series are just wonderful and romantic. It's such a shame they are not published in paperback - I'm sure the author would sell loads. Love, love, love them.Back Cover Blurb:Indy Savage, cop's daughter, rock chick and used bookstore owner, has been in love with Lee Nightingale, once bad boy, now the man behind Nightingale Investigations, since she was five years old. No matter what ingenious schemes Indy used to capture his attention, Lee never showed an interest and Indy finally gave up. Now Indy's employee, Rosie, has lost a bag of diamonds and bad guys are shooting at him. When Indy gets involved, Lee is forced to help. Complicating matters, Lee has decided he's interested, Indy's decided she's not. But she can't seem to keep Lee out of her life when she's repeatedly stun gunned, kidnapped and there are car bombs exploding (not to mention she's finding dead bodies). Indy's best bet is to solve the mystery of the diamonds before Lee. Lee's challenge is to keep Indy alive and, at the same time, win back her heart.

It all started with a life time of wanting, a crushed heart and some fine coffee.

Indy, our MC is a bit immature, irresponsible, has her fair share of TSTL moments. She requires some serious patience. This girl is the walking wounded. To cover her hurt and her humiliation she acts out stupidly. She is the type of character I normally don't like to read but I could understand her.
She has a hole in her chest the size of the Grand Canyon. She grew up in a loving extended family that was a mixture of two broken families. When at 5 years old her mother died a boy from the other family sat with her and held her hand. (awwww) She loved him since that moment and did her best to try to be with him. She schemed to win him all through her teenage years till one day he said the thing that broke her and left that hole. The hole that had her avoiding him for the next ten years.
Lee, is the guy, the one that broke her all those years ago. He has become a PI after a stint in the military and other than that is a mystery to the whole family it seems. He is the ultimate Alpha man machine. He's built big, he's a trained ex-special Op, he has a team, fast vehicles and weapons. When he is needed he steps up takes control and orders everyone else around. This could be a problem for him, a big problem.
Indy finds her self shot at outside her bookstore, after opening her mouth in a TSTL quest. She doesn't know what to do and calls Lee's sister for help. Oh, she helps by taking Indy and her co-worker to Lee's apartment "he won't mind he's out of town" she says. Well he comes home, yeah, she was set up. Little sister wants them together and she works hard at arranging it. But the damage that had been done years ago is still alive. There is more than that keeping them apart. There are the missing diamonds, the creepy Munster guy, the dead bodies, the cops, the family, the receptionist, the unending flirting, and the drag queens schedules to deal with. How can anything be changed when the world is a whirl ?
One stand out cutie-Chowleena, the little darlin' could sashay' her way into anyones heart.
I thought it was a fun, romantic comedy with just enough snark to have me snickering along. The extened family was so funny. The romance was not an easy thing they had to work for it for a long time. Oh my, talk about interruptions, Honey it felt like nothing was ever going to be. I was feeling the frustration and wanting to smash that dang phone, door buzzer... to pieces. So, I had fun, it was a fun pice of work and I ended the book feeling happy.
