Chapter One:
How to Deal with Your Debt Crisis.
Introduction.
We all have aspirations about our lives. That we can have nice things and go out when we want and buy the latest technology and have a nice car and a nice home. However, our desire for nice things often outstrips our income, especially during a recession and especially when the banks lent irresponsibly on the build up to the 2007/2008 crash. Credit seems easy and it can become difficult to see that when we spend on a credit card or get a loan we are not spending our own money. We are spending someone else’s money. This guide will help you sort out your debts by using the existing laws of the UK. It will stop the banks hounding you and will assist you to repair your credit rating, when things have settled down.
All the guidelines and form letters in this pack have been tested in real debt situation and have been shown to be very effective in dealing with debts crises.
The Golden Rules:
Remember these golden rules at all times during the process of dealing with debts and your creditors, who at times will be aggressive, persistent and dishonest.
1. Keep good records.
2. Keep in touch with your creditors.
3. Tell your creditors the truth.
STEP ONE.
First Things First: Understand Your Own Debts.
Depending on whether you’re a careful record keeper or whether you tend to just spend money and worry about it later, you need to do a full assessment of your situation. This sounds daunting but it really isn’t. Just grab every statement you have, find the most up-to-date one
