About this ebook
The final chapter in the award-winning and bestselling Hearts of the Anemoi series...
Annalise Fallston made peace with postponing her big-city dreams to care for her ill father, but lately she's been filled with a restlessness not even her beloved painting dispels. Worse, the colors don't speak to her as they always have, and all her efforts produce dark, foreboding images of a dangerous man and a terrifying future.
Devlin Eston, black-souled son of the evil Anemoi Eurus, is the only one who can thwart his father's plan to overthrow the Supreme God of Wind and Storms. But first, Dev must master the unstable powers he's been given. Distrusted and shunned by his own divine family, he never expected to find kindness and passion in the arms of a mortal.
But Devlin's love puts Annalise in the path of a catastrophic storm, and in the final Armageddon showdown between the Anemoi and Eurus, sacrifices will be made, hearts broken, and lives changed forever…or lost.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5“Devlin had an anger management problem of divine proportions. Literally. When he got mad, things caught on fire, blew up, or got fried by electricity.”I am such a sucker for a damaged bad boy, and there is no one who has been more damaged than Devlin Eston. He has spent his life being abused by his father, and his scars envelop him physically and emotionally. And even though he is now dedicated to stopping his father before he can destroy the world, the rest of the Anemoi still do not trust him, feeling he carries the sins of his father. Annalise Fallston has returned home to care for her ill father. She has always sought refuge in her paintings, but lately she has been plagued by visions of dark images that she has been compelled to paint. When fate lands Devlin in the farmhouse that Annalise uses as her studio and he recognizes himself in the pictures that Annalise has been painting, Annalise and Devlin find themselves in a race against time to stop Devlin’s father Euros from destroying the world.I just loved Annalise and Devlin together. She was definitely the light to Devlin’s dark and was just so perfect for him. Her kindness and caring slowly began to break down the walls that Devlin had built, and it was so heartwarming to see her help Devlin realize and accept the goodness in himself. I loved watching Devlin become more self-confident as a result of his relationship with Annalise, and it was great watching them draw strength from each other as they faced confrontations, danger and heartbreak. Watching Devlin struggle through his feelings for Annalise and accepting the fact that he was worthy of her love just made me fall in love with him a little more, and his protective nature and gentleness toward her were just**sigh**. When he finally gives in to sexual tension that has been building up with Annalise, well, let’s just say things definitely get hot!“You don’t understand,” he said, leaning his forehead against hers. His hips rolled involuntarily as he ran a too-rough hand from her throat down the valley between her breasts and back again. “I have long abstained, Anna. And now, I want you too fucking bad. If I let myself off this leash, I’m going to come at you like a freight train. I will take you over and over again in ways you can imagine and some you can’t. And I’m not going to be able to stop until you’ve come so often you can’t see straight.”I can’t say enough about the world that Laura Kaye has built and the mythology surrounding all of her characters. She has created characters that are three dimensional and have you riding the waves of emotions with them. I love when I become emotionally invested in the characters that I am reading about, and Devlin and Annalise had me from the first page.I have not read the other books in this series (this is book 4) but I didn’t have any trouble jumping in to the series at this point and understanding what was going on. But what I will say is that after having read this book I am kicking myself for not having discovered this series earlier – it is that good – and I will definitely be going back to read all of the other books in this series!Thank you Laura Kaye for such a wonderful story – I can’t wait to go back and start at the beginning!I received a copy of the book from the publisher for an honest review.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5The wonderful world of the Hearts of the Anemoi series is brought to a close with East of Ecstasy, and the end didn’t come quietly. Loyalties were questioned and tested, loved ones were threatened and lives were lost. Laura Kaye continuously raised the bar with each book, both in her writing skills and the challenges she put her characters through. I was delighted to see that she’d done something I’ve only seen Gena Showalter do, thus far. If you’ve read any of the LotU books, you might get the hint. I am sad to see it come to an end, but I can not wait for Ms. Kaye to start a new paranormal/fantasy series. When I think of paranormal authors, her name has already become synonymous with that genre along with a few other heavy hitters. This series is a must have, must read, will love collection. Pick up this series if you’re looking for something new and fresh, and a series that encompasses love, loss, passion and suspense.
These books are best read in order. Each book deals with a new couple and each book has a happy ending with no cliffhangers, but the main story arc is a continuous thread throughout all four. If you want to avoid spoilers or understand what the Gods are fighting for, you need to read these in order.
I really liked this couple, especially Anna. She was level-headed, courageous, compassionate and very perceptive. For a young woman, she was refreshing. At least to me. But first, let’s talk more about the tortured hero, Devlin Easton. Misunderstood, underestimated and consumed by guilt. With the events of the last battle still fresh in my memory, it served to really bring out everything Devlin was feeling in the first few opening pages. He thought he had no one to turn to and no where to go. No one, except his grandfather, believed in him and his allegiance. And while hiding from Eurus, his uncles and trying to get his volatile powers under control, he stumbled upon the one thing that would change his life for the better. Love. Devlin wasn’t the more typical beefed up bad-a$$. After his initial flare up with Anna, I loved that he kept her at a safe distance, but he didn’t try that hard to push her away. That seemed to make him more intriguing and lovable.
I certainly believed their chemistry and the connection that grew between them was paced so nicely. It wasn’t a “I want to jump your bones” frenzy, but rather two people looking out for one another and paying close attention to what was said around them, or how others acted. I can not get enough of stories or love connections that start out along those lines. My favorite moments between them were the shower scene (I sobbed) and the moments of tenderness he showed her and the other Anemois catching on to that.
The romance was paced and nicely meshed with the action throughout the story. There was a very interesting revelation about Anna and the fierce battle at the end was well worth the wait and the build up to it. If I had one minor complaint, I was hoping to see Anna on the offensive during the battle. Given her new standing and her power, it just seemed a wee bit anti-climatic how things ended. Regardless, this story was gripping up until the end, and seeing Devlin get everything he deserved to have was a beautiful ending to a thrilling series. I own all the books in print, and this will be added to my collection.
Favorite line:
He grasped her face in his hand, needing to warn her, needing her to understand where he was. “You only make me uncomfortable because you make me feel so alive,” Devlin rasped, shaking his head.
