Hi, thanks for considering my book. I am an ex-AA driving instructor and the dad of four great kids. I have just finished (successfully) teaching my second child to drive, and frequently have family and friends ask me to help them do the same for their kids. While I love to help out, it is often hard to find the time. This is where the idea to write this book came from. I have basically created a complete guide for everyday parents to follow. I hope you find it really useful.Kind regardsDave

Introduction - Why You Need This Guide
The fated day has finally come, and your eager teenager has passed their initial theory test and is now ready to learn to drive . . . congratulations, you are about to embark on adventure with them that will test both parties patience and good humour. Never fear though, thousands have successfully conquered the challenge, and you will too!
There are plenty of how to drive
guides both in bookshops and online, and generally speaking, they give sound technical advice about driving. However, they are often overly detailed, and explain the how to drive
but not the how to teach driving
.
As a soon to be amateur driving instructor, you need simple teaching techniques and tips that will not bog you (or your learner) down in a sea of dry information. The process of how to teach the actual driving is at least as important as the technical skills.
I am both a qualified driving instructor and a parent. While I have stopped full time instructor work, as each of my children reach the ‘magic age’ I get to reapply all the skills and experience built up through teaching literally hundreds of people to drive.
This guide is designed to help you teach your learner to drive safely in a practical and no nonsense way. I do not dwell on unnecessary detail, but pass on simple, easy to apply teaching points. Enjoy.
