- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5This is the most useful I've seen of books of this type. The author's choices of word are both appropriate and graceful. Best of all, they serve as a springboard for the sender to add a few more thoughts that would make a card particularly meaningful. I intend to make this book a reference I will go to often

- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Many people find it easier to write an essay than to write a short sentence on a greeting card. I'm one of those people, which is the reason that I bought this book. This book gives about thirty different examples for fifteen different occasions, and it has been helpful to me when I need to write a short note on a greeting card. The book does deliver on its promise to provide "perfect phrases to personalize your greeting cards", but fulfilling that promise makes for a short book. Daniel pads the book by providing "a monthly calendar for names, birthdays, and anniversaries," which isn't why I spent good money on the book. Thirty-seven of its 129 pages are virtually blank. This space could have been more effectively used by etiquette for each type of greeting card. She also could have a compendium of ways to write the complimentary close. I am chided for always writing "sincerely."This a useful book that could have easily been made more useful.
- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5This (very) little book contains ideas for personalizing cards for 30 occasions. The categories run the gamut from frequent occasions such as birthdays or thank you notes, to the rarer events like retirements and new homes. Each occasion has a page or two of short sentences to help you express your sentiments. This book will not really help you write longer notes, or letters; but it is perfect for adding something personal to a ready-made greeting card. The last 40 or so pages are devoted to space for you to keep track of birthdays, anniversaries and Christmas/ Hanukkah/ Kwanzaa card lists. Without those pages, this would be more of a pamphlet than a book. I would have preferred more content instead of space for lists that I keep on my computer.I like the idea of customizing greeting cards, and I'm sure I'll use the phrases in this book to jump-start my notes. However, if I had leafed through it in a store, I'm not sure I would have bought it.2 Stars

I am grateful to my dad and mom, Frank Hoffman and the late Mildred Hoffman, for their unwavering support and faith in me to never give up my dreams. They gave me the courage to follow through and complete my book.
To my brothers, John, Greg, and Joe, thank you for your support. Greg, you have always been my sounding board, and special thanks to Joe, without whose help this book would never have been completed.
To my editor, Micki Nuding, many thanks for the enthusiasm and interest she has shown for this project. I have really enjoyed working with Micki and greatly appreciate her expertise.
Many thanks to my wonderful agent, Mary Tahan, as well as Stedman Mays and Jena Anderson of Clausen, Mays & Tahan Literary Agency. Without their vision, faith, and encouragement none of this would have been possible. When at times things became overwhelming, Mary’s encouragement put me at ease and back on track.
