- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5After their encounter with goblins, dwarves, and elves, Jared, Simon, and Mallory Grace realize they have to tell their mother about the faerie world surrounding them. But they may have waited too long and it will take everything they have plus help from some friends to make everything okay. "The Wrath of Mulgarath" is the exciting conclusion to the five book series "The Spiderwick Chronicles". The book picks up right where "The Ironwood Tree" ends and is filled with non-stop action. There is the return of old favorite (Thimbletack and Hogsqueal) and not so favorite (Mulgarath) characters as well as more than one surprise along the way. The book is full of twists and turns and not everyone and everything is what they seem to be. There are moments filled with real suspense and even some humor along the way. While the climactic battle scene has plenty of action, I was a bit disappointed because certain events seemed a bit anticlimactic. Since this was the fifth and final book in "The Spiderwick Chronicles" series, everything is neatly wrapped up in the end. Readers will love reading what happens to Jared, Simon, and Mallory, as well as Thimbletack and Hogsqueal, and even Aunt Lucinda. Her ending is the most bittersweet of all. "The Wrath of Mulgarath" is a great ending to a wonderful series.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5What an awesome children's series. I'm so glad I took the time to read this to my kids. The ending was perfect, the characters delightfully crafted. Zack did mention "Hey, if we read the books it will ruin the ending of the movie!" lol, that's sort of the point :)
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5A great ending to a really enjoyable series. This, being the fifth and final book of the "Chronicles of Spiderwick," brings about a fantastic conclusion. The Grace children return to their home only to find out that their mother has been kidnapped by the goblins. They visit the elves and get enlist the help of Spiderwick himself. The children, along with their Griffin and House Brownie, track the goblins to the junkyard where they have a final confrontation with the ogre who is behind all the troubles. A fun read that moves quickly with a lot of action. I highly recommend this to any one who still has a bit of the child in them that believes in faeries.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5In this final installment of the Spiderwick Chronicles, the Grace children must rescue their mother and save the human world from the evil ogre, Mulgarath. A fitting end to this series, this book was non-stop action from beginning to end. All story lines are brought to a satisfying conclusion and yet the door is left open for a sequel. This series is a perfect introduction to fantasy for young children. My 7yo was on the edge of his seat for the entire series and this will be remembered as one of our favourite read alouds.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Our only complaint - the series is over. (although I think I head there are books after this but I need to check it out more). The suspense was built and we were sucked into this book. We could barely put it down wanting to finish it. My 8 year old, who prefers it when I read out loud, even read parts of this book when I had to get up and do something! Great, great, great book!
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5The three children arrive home to their house in a mess and their mother kidnapped. They have to venture into the world of the Goblins to rescue her, questioning their Great Uncle on the way. The fifth book in the series and still a great read, I enjoyed it wholeheartedly even if it only lasted for my lunch break!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Perfect conclusion. All our faves come back, all our heroes get their own personal moment of total despair, everyone’s special talent gets to contribute to saving the day, and Mom gets in on the action! I also just love how brutal this book is; I loved it so much as a kid because it doesn’t feel condescending in the same way that a lot of other children’s books did, and when I recommend this series to kids at the library, their favorite parts are ALWAYS from this book. Love you Spiderwick Chronicles <3

- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5This is the end of 'The Spiderwick Chronicles'. So, of course, it's going to be nothing but a battle between the Grace children and Mulgarath's army. But, it was actually pretty good. It is my favorite of the entire series. I wish Mulgarath was in the book more though. He seemed like he could make an interesting and creepy character. Overall, the series is pretty good.

- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5What a horrible family. Not a single decent role model in the book. The story line is a bit stale and cliched; I didn't care for these books at all.

Dear Reader,
Over the years that Tony and I have been friends, we’ve shared the same childhood fascination with faeries. We did not realize the importance of that bond or how it might be tested.
One day Tony and I—along with several other authors—were doing a signing at a large bookstore. When the signing was over, we lingered, helping to stack books and chatting, until a clerk approached us. He said that there had been a letter left for us. When I inquired which one of us, we were surprised by his answer.
Both of you,
he said.
The letter was exactly as reproduced on the following page. Tony spent a long time just staring at the photocopy that came with it. Then, in a hushed voice, he wondered aloud about the remainder of the manuscript. We hurriedly wrote a note, tucked it back into the envelope, and asked the clerk to deliver it to the Grace children.
Not long after, a package arrived on my doorstep, bound in red ribbon. A few days after that, three children rang the bell and told me this story.
What has happened since is hard to describe. Tony and I have been plunged into a world we never quite believed in. We now see that faeries are far more than childhood stories. There is an invisible world around us and we hope that you, dear reader, will open your eyes to it.
HOLLY BLACK
Dear Mrs. Black and Mr. DiTerlizzi:
I know that a lot of people don’t believe in faeries, but I do and I think that you do too. After I read your books, I told my brothers about you and we decided to write. We know about real faeries. In fact, we know a lot about them.
The page attachedI
to this one is a photocopy from an old book we found in our attic. It isn’t a great copy because we had some trouble with the copier. The book tells people how to identify faeries and how to protect themselves. Can you please give this book to your publisher? If you can, please put a letter in this envelope and give it back to the store. We will find a way to send the book. The normal mail is too dangerous.
We just want people to know about this. The stuff that has happened to us could happen to anyone.
Sincerely,
Mallory, Jared, and Simon Grace
