About this ebook
This book contains selected papers from the LASIG conference at Treffpunkt Sprachen in Graz, Austria. It is a compilation of articles dealing with a wide range of topics addressing aspects of a pedagogy for autonomy in various institutional and cultural contexts. It provides the reader with valuable insights into theoretical considerations surrounding the concept of learner autonomy, such as the essential role of the target language or the influence of organisational systems when promoting autonomy in formal educational settings. It further offers valuable examples of practice which include the potential use of textbooks and the successful development of a dyslexic learner in autonomous learning environments. Another part of the book addresses specific questions about the implementation of learner autonomy at tertiary level. It finally concludes with a few illustrative as well as critical examples of how learner autonomy can be supported by technology.
