About this ebook

Does Your Poop Float? A Guide to Colon Health
Do you have a toxic colon? 90% of all disease and discomfort begins in a toxic colon. Most people do not even recognize the symptoms of a toxic colon because they live with them every day. Look at these familiar Signs of a Toxic Colon:
* Constipation
* Mental confusion
* Irritability
* Fatigue or lack of energy
* Flatulence or bloating
* Lower back pain
* Obesity
* Depression
How Do We Develop a Toxic Colon?
The average American colon ingests 200 pounds of white flour every year, which contains no fiber, making it difficult to pass through the digestive tract. No wonder most people have 15-25 lbs. of fecal matter sitting in their colons. Mike Adams, editor of Natural News reiterates, “Show me a crabby person who’s always in a bad mood, and I’ll show you a person with 20 pounds of fecal matter stuck in their digestive tract.”
“Does Your Poop Float: A Guide to Colon Health” will answer the following questions:
* What is autointoxication?
* How do I get rid of parasites (90% of us have them!)
* What are the causes of Irritable Bowel Syndrome?
* What are the best natural laxatives?
* How can I cleanse my colon with basic foods and herbs?

Introduction

Fecal Foreplay

This book is a lifelong compilation of personal research on my favorite topic: good health, and specifically good colon health. I believe we are in charge of our own health, to a great extent, by the way we eat, think, and exercise. I wrote this book to help educate and inspire people to make changes, do their own research, and improve their health. I endorse the wholistic health system that includes the body, mind, and spirit.

Frightening Colon Facts

• Colon cancer is the number-two cancer killer in America.

• Up to 90% of the world’s population is chronically dehydrated.

• Scientists have proven the link between constipation and breast cancer.

• Ninety percent of all disease begins in the colon.

• Laxative sales have soared to over $1.5 billion per year.

• The average person’s colon holds between 15 to 22 pounds of impacted fecal matter.

• Sixty-seven percent of Americans are obese.

• We are lowering the life expectancy of our children by teaching or allowing bad diet habits.

• Poor diet, lack of exercise, and lack of adequate water consumption are the cause of nearly all bowel maladies.

The title of this book may seem silly to you, but I know it got your attention. Nobody wants to talk about this embarrassing topic, but you think about it all the time. This daily process of elimination raises a lot of questions. Is your poop normal? Why can’t you have a bowel movement every day? Why is it floating, but yesterday it sank? You wonder what your poop is supposed to do. You don’t dare talk about it, so you stay quiet and wonder. You hear the conversation on TV sometimes. One doctor says poop should NEVER float because that means you’re eating too much fat. Another doctor says it should ALWAYS float because if it sinks, you’d better see your doctor quick! Hence, lies the controversy that has reigned for decades.

I wrote this book to raise awareness of the bowel and to shout about the need for change. It’s time to come out of the closet and talk about constipation, irritable bowel syndrome, and how we’re making ourselves sick. Let’s talk about a very big, very important word. Autointoxication is the number-one cause of disease, which robs us of good health, happiness, and clear thinking. But what is autointoxication?

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has stated that over 90% of Americans are walking around with clogged colons (DHHS, 2009). The typical colon holds between 15-22 pounds of impacted fecal matter (Jensen, 1981, 27) and disease can begin to form in the large intestine. As this feces sits in the colon, it can decay, ferment, and release toxins back into the bloodstream through the colon walls. Then it travels to other parts of the body to create disease. This process of the body poisoning itself is called autointoxication. Earl Irons, a revered bowel specialist, states: In my opinion, there is only one real disease, and that disease is autointoxication—the body poisoning itself. It is the filth in our system that kills us. So I am convinced that unless you clean out your bowel, you will never reach vibrant health (Irons 2007, 23).

Every cell of our body can be affected by self-poisoning. When toxins accumulate in the nervous system, we feel irritable and depressed. We may feel weak if they back up into the heart or bloated if they reach the stomach. Our breath becomes foul if they reach the lungs. These poisons may try to escape through our skin, causing rashes or pimples. If the toxins make it to our glands, we become tired and fatigued. Our skin may appear wrinkled, making us look older than our actual age.

It is easy to see why 95% of all disease begins in a toxic colon. Years of autointoxication may result in colon cancer or a number of autoimmune disorders. These may begin with any or all of the symptoms listed below, including headache, fatigue, and flatulence. Many people don’t recognize the signs of colon dysfunction because they seem to be such a natural part of their everyday lives.

The United States is full of sick people. There has never been such an elaborate assortment of diseases in this country. Even though life expectancy has reached a peak of 77.8 years, the incidence of serious diseases has also reached a staggering magnitude. Colon cancer is now the second most deadly cancer. Laxative sales have soared to an astounding $1.5 billion per year. Constipation is a common symptom of all types of disease. According to Bernard Jensen, a respected pioneer of colon cleansing, Education must be a priority in order to avoid medication (Jensen 1981, 18). He also stated: In times past, knowledge of the bowel was more widespread and people were taught how to care for the bowel. Somehow bowel wisdom got lost and it became something that no one wanted to talk about anymore (Ibid, 56). Obviously, the average American does not have a healthy colon. The fiber required to facilitate proper bowel movement is absent from most of the fast foods in our diet today. The common American diet is a breeding ground for toxic accumulation of poisons that are not easily eliminated. This diet consists primarily of low-fiber, high-fat, processed junk food that is full of sugar, preservatives, fat, and simple starches.

With our digestive systems clogged and weakened, it’s no wonder 67% of Americans are obese. Unfortunately, we’re also teaching and allowing our children to become obese. Compared to 30 years ago, the percentage of overweight children has doubled among grade-school children and tripled among teenagers. Poor adult health can often be traced to bad habits acquired during childhood. How sad that we are raising obese children who will someday become obese adults.

An obvious sign of this weight gain is the classic potbelly. Nearly all weight problems can be attributed to dysfunction in the colon and the digestive tract. Constipation is the precursor for diseases of the bowl, digestive tract, and many other forms of disease. The National Institute of Health has published a survey showing that 4.5 million Americans are constipated most or nearly all of the time (NIH 1992, 7).

Chapter 1

Signs of a Toxic Colon

The road to health is paved with good intestines.

Dr. Gloria Gilbere

The Colon: Your Most Important Body Part

The most important—but often most neglected—part of your body is your large intestine or colon. Since the large intestine was the first organ to be developed in the fetus, it truly is the most important and influential organ in the body. This single body organ determines your personal good health or your lapse into disease. It is where most disease begins and ends. Your intestinal tract absorbs the necessary nutrients your body needs to function efficiently. If your colon is clean, healthy, and working well, you feel good. But if you’re plugged up and constipated, you get sick and feel terrible. The best signs that your sewer system is not functioning properly are bad breath and smelly stools.

Eighty percent of your immune system is located in your colon. The intestines are close to thirty feet long and work hard to process about fifty tons of food during your lifetime. Research tells us there is a network of electrical and chemical signals that pass continually between the brain and the gut (GI tract). The brain sends signals, along with instructions, to the colon, where it carries out the instructions and answers the brain about the body’s condition. It is why many experts call the gut our second brain. It is also why you may feel nauseous or get diarrhea when something upsetting happens to you.

When the large intestine becomes toxic, it prevents the proper absorption of food due to the impacted layers of fecal matter. This creates a narrowed passageway as the colon walls become thickly coated, making the diameter of bowel movements smaller, even the size of a pencil or shoelaces. Constipation and numerous other bowel problems begin to occur.

(Jensen 2013)

Do You Have a Toxic Colon?

According to Bernard Jensen, When the bowel fails, the whole body goes into a nutritional crisis. Metabolic shock waves flow to every cell and tissue (Jensen 1981, 17). Over 62 million people in America suffer from some form of bowel problem, stemming from a toxic colon. In addition, over 100,000 people each year undergo a colostomy (a surgical procedure whereby a stoma is formed by drawing the healthy end of the large intestine or colon through an incision through the anterior abdominal wall and suturing it in place. This opening provides an alternative channel for feces to leave the body.)

Grooming is important to most of us. We make sure we’re clean on the outside by bathing, washing our hair, brushing our teeth, etc. But we forget that we need to be clean on the inside, too. The colon is our body’s sewer and it can become clogged with accumulated toxins that create disease.

If we do the math and realize that we usually eat three meals a day and maybe a few snacks, but only have one bowel movement per day, obviously there are always a couple of extra meals sitting in our colon. A bowel movement after every meal is the desired norm, but many people go for days or weeks between bowel movements. This means extra weight and extra toxic waste matter waiting to create disease. If these waste deposits remain in the colon for an extended period of time, they may harden into feces that are two to three inches thick. They may also become as hard as tire rubber.

Ideally, we should eliminate after every meal, just as the animal kingdom does. Even our young babies naturally eliminate after every feeding. But it’s a rare event for most adults. Hopefully, we won’t be responsible for slowing down our children’s digestive systems as we introduce solid foods (which may be incorrect food choices). It’s important to take good care of our colons to increase peristalsis and easy movement through our digestive tracts.

A toxic colon develops when the colon loses its ability to properly eliminate waste materials from the digestive tract. This condition is caused by one or more of the following factors:

• Stress

• Lack of exercise

• Inadequate water consumption

• Poor diet

• Drug intake

• Lifestyle and a variety of other factors, like some listed below.

Ninety percent of all disease and discomfort begins in a toxic colon (Kellogg 1923, 31). As autointoxication occurs, every cell in the body is affected by this cesspool of harmful bacteria. The entire system is weakened, and the heart may become stressed. The brain’s mental functions become disturbed, and senility and premature aging may develop. Muscle
