Oh my goodness what a sad story, how any parent could do the things to this little child is beyond belief, I cried through most of this book. The compassion of this wonderful women and the children's understanding was just unbelievable, I guess we know that God puts certain people on this earth to take care of special people and this lady certainly is one of those people.

Could not put this book down. It is not my usual type of book and I stumbled across this one by chance. I am now a huge fan of Cathy and have read every single book she has written.

Cathy Glass is an amazing person and an amazing writer. This book, as all of her books, is difficult to put down. I find myself saying "Just one more chapter....." Glass keeps the reader interested and eager to read more. I have shed tears and had a chuckle or two while reading this book. Most of all, Glass shows the desperate need for loving and devoted caregivers for children who's parents are unable, for whatever reason, to care for them properly. She also shows the reader the problems with social services. Although this true story takes place in England, the events could just as easily take place in the United States or any other country. I recommend this, or any other book by this author, especially if you are considering becoming a foster parent or a social worker.

The life this little girl lived, before coming into the nurturing hands of Cathy, is just heartbreaking. It is so hard to believe that parents can treat their children with such violence. While this is not ranked up there with some other books of this subject I have read it is very much a worthwhile read. I was shocked ..yes...but not moved to tears.

Everyone should read this book. Everyone should know what happens to children. Then maybe more will be done to stop it. Thank you Cathy for sharing Jodie's story and being the amazing woman who heard those cries. They now reverberate in me.

yes i'm already finished with the book, and considering the time i started yesterday and the time i finished today, i finished in about a day. the first book i remember reading on these subjects was 'one child' by torey hayden and from that moment i was hooked on these types of books and for some reason i like books where there are stories of struggle, or sadness and hardships.i don't think i completely know why, but i do know i like them because when there about children like the little girl Jodie in the book good does come out at the end.i did struggle reading parts of this book, but i also couldn't put it down. each turn of the page either brought more trouble and heartbreaking moments, or laughter and tears of joy. Jodie was a very damaged girl, with all the rejection she went through Cathy was able to help this damaged little girl and give her a chance of hope!

Though this book was hard to read, I AM glad I read it. A heartfelt look at a British foster carer who takes in the toughest case of her life. They way the author is determined to help the child is beyond admirable. Hard, but good on the heart.

An horrific true story of child abuse and the amazing patience and love of a foster carer. Makes you realise that you aren't such a bad parent after all. Sad because there is no fantastic outcome for the child - her life is better but she remains severely dysfunctional.

The story of Jodie, an eight year old girl, who goes into the foster care of Cathy. We see the ups and downs of Jodie's care and the progress Cathy makes with her as this little girl grows up and deals with some of the monsters that have been haunting her.

The true story of a foster mother, her family and one incredibly tortured little girl. Absolutely heartbreaking. Jodie is a victim of child abuse and has suffered since she was born, into a family of paedophiles none-the-less, Damaged tells her story through the eyes of her foster carer Cathy. This book made me cry, and i'm even teary now just thinking about the poor little pet. With so many books about this subject out there, it's not really an original story, but it still remains a heart-breaking and traumatising story. However, It provides good insight into both sides of foster care, the victim and the aide, which is something other books of this genre that i have read do not seem to apply.
