About this ebook

From Colleen Hoover, the #1 Sunday Times bestselling author of It Ends with Us, a heart-wrenching love story that proves attraction at first sight can be messy.

When Tate Collins meets airline pilot Miles Archer, she doesn't think it's love at first sight. They wouldn’t even go so far as to consider themselves friends. The only thing Tate and Miles have in common is an undeniable mutual attraction. Once their desires are out in the open, they realise they have the perfect set-up. He doesn’t want love, she doesn’t have time for love, so that just leaves the sex. Their arrangement could be surprisingly seamless, as long as Tate can stick to the only two rules Miles has for her.

Never ask about the past.
Don’t expect a future.

They think they can handle it, but realise almost immediately they can’t handle it at all.

Hearts get infiltrated.
Promises get broken.
Rules get shattered.
Love gets ugly.

This book was so heartwarming and wrecking all at the same time. Love is complex; can be both ugly and beautiful, it's amazing having someone by your side to experience all that every single step of the way.
By the end of the book, finally understood the symbolism of the book cover

This book was chosen as this author holds five titles on the NYT best seller list right now. It is a shallow story of a relationship based on lust and sex, at first. Then it goes no further on one side and the why of it ends up being the story. Very shallow. It does say something about the public's reading taste post covid.

I knew I had to wait and read this when I could shut myself off from the world and finish it in one shot.

Damn, Ms. Hoover, you FOR SERIOUS know how to make a grown woman cry.

Love that Tate goes by her middle name. Her character fits the name perfectly, to me.

Also, must now find a pilot to date and/or take me up in a plane. It's been on the life list for years and this book just solidified it for me.

I enjoyed this. Tate and Miles start a no strings attached sexual relationship. Miles only has 2 rules. 1. Don't ask about his past, and 2. Don't expect a future. Things don't work out like either of them plan.

To me, this is not a romance novel. It's a realistic look at love. It shows the good and bad, beginnings and endings, miracles and tragedies from all angles. For me, there weren't any huge epiphany moments. It was just a good, solid, deep book through and through.

Four hours. That’s how long it took me to consume every word of “Ugly Love”. I poured out every emotion I think I’ve ever felt in my whole life into tears and my ugly crying face. Four hours that had me feeling like I’ve lived an entire lifetime in between the pages of that book. I met Tate and fell in love with her snarky personality and sarcasm. I followed along on Miles’ journey, begging to know his secrets. I begged him and begged him to share his life with us. I yearned to see a relationship form, for hearts NOT to get broken and for a happily ever after. However, it’s called “Ugly Love” for a reason. Sometimes love isn’t pretty and all sunshine and flowers. In fact, more often than not, it’s ugly. It’s also what we do with the ugly that matters. It has a certain beauty about it when you can show the ugly parts of who you are not only to the ones you love, but also to yourself. If you hide away the ugly, you’ll never be able to fix it. You’ll live forever in a state of denial and frustration. You owe it to yourself to be honest, to love and to communicate. You owe it to yourself to have an Ugly Love.

I leave you with this; go read “Ugly Love” by Colleen Hoover. Then I want you to analyze what might be ugly in your life. Think about it long and hard and then work on it. You owe it to yourself.

This was a great book. You get authors, then you get authors with talent, Colleen is one with talent. I love books where I am not sure if the relationship between charactors will stand the test of time, and this was one of those books

Tate moves in with her brother and meets his friend and neighbor Miles. She's attracted to him, but he seems very standoffish. Her brother thinks Miles is gay and he admits that he hasn't had sex in six years - huge red flags, so of course Tate falls for him. He won't share anything about his past and tells her she can't depend on him for a future, but they can have lots of no-strings attached sex. Tate agrees (someone needs to smack her upside her head), thinking she can handle it and ignoring all the red flags.I love most of Ms. Hoover's books, but this one was a disappointment. While Miles is very attractive, he's so damaged that Tate stay far, far away. She's going to graduate school for nursing and also working, seems very practical, and I couldn't fathom why she would stick with him knowing from the beginning that he was going to break her heart. Most of the story happens very slowly which just made me wonder all the more why Tate was so weak. Her POV alternates with Miles's backstory which honestly was sad, but written as if a teenage girl was journaling in weird haikus and poetry. It was so overwrought that it made it hard to sympathize with Miles. The ending happens very abruptly and predictably. This story was just not one that I enjoyed that much.

This book wasn't what I was expecting. What I mean by that is, between the name and Colleen, I expected some ugly tears. Now, don't get all disappointed by this. I am not saying there aren't parts that won't make you cry, there are. It's just I am a tougher cookie to crack. I was almost there a few times. I just needed more for the tears to fall.

I love how this book starts out. Tate and Miles' meeting isn't very typical or romantic. I couldn't help but chuckle a little. I found myself doing that periodically throughout the book. The slow friendship/relationship that builds between these two is bittersweet. It isn't instant and it is heartbreaking at times.

Colleen always seems to get me so far into her characters' heads that I can't seem to escape them for some time. I still catch myself sitting here thinking about them from time to time. That doesn't always happen!

Per usual, I am not going to go into the plot. You read the blurb. I am sure there are many reviews out there already that have delved into the plot and dissected it for you. I will tell you that the story has its own uniqueness that will keep you reading. I didn't want to put it down!

5 stars doesn't do this book justice!! Clear your schedule, grab this book and a box of tissues, go to your favorite reading spot and devour this book just like I did. This incredibly real and emotional story is the best I have read this year and one everyone should read!

Beautiful. Brilliant. At first I was a little underwhelmed with the story. My expectations were so and I wanted it to grab me right away. The story built slowly and methodically and before I knew it I was all the way in and completely consumed. Ugh, Miles. I wanted to smack and hug him with every turn of the page. Poor Tate. I could relate to her completely. It was perfect. Emotional and sexy. Everything I could have every wanted.

Tate Collins doesn't have time for a boyfriend and Miles Archer is too emotionally damaged to want a girlfriend, so all that leaves is sex. Tate thought it would be easy, simple even. They have rules and when they stick to them no one gets hurt. But Tate finds herself wanting more from their arrangement and Miles keeps giving her hope that there might be something more to them then their physical connection. But in order for Tate to break down Miles' walls and make him open up to her she has to learn about his past, the one he keeps guarded, the one that she swore never to ask about. Love is a lot of things and Colleen Hoover does a spectacular job of showing us all the ugliest parts of it. ------------------------------------I blew through this book, it probably took me less than 6 hours to read it start to finish and when I did finish I was wrecked. I can't even tell you how much I love Colleen's ability to take a story such as this one, one about 'friends with benefits' and tell it in a way that's completely unique and (thankfully) lacks all of cliches. I loved Tate as a character and (of course) I instantly fell for Miles and his puppy dog eyes. I really enjoyed the lack of other characters, yes there were small bits and pieces with other people passing through but for the most part it was solely Miles and Tate and I feel like with anyone else's characters it would've gotten old real fast but Colleens characters are so lively and so complex that the whole book could have been set in an 8x10 room with just the two of them and it still would've been amazing. I don't want to go into too much detail about the book because I feel like if I do I'll give something away so I'll just end by saying that Colleen has this magically way of tugging on your heartstrings and forcing you to believe in true love, even the ugly kind. Until next time, Ginger
