    ABOUT THE AUTHOR

    INTRODUCTION: EDUCATIONAL OUTLAW

Are you are considering going to college or are already in college? Congratulations because you are taking steps to better yourself and to improve your life. Well let me add a caveat to that. Maybe you are taking beneficial steps to better yourself and your family. You might be thinking hold on what is this guy talking about? College is great. Everyone tells me that I need it. I will be broke, homeless and living in a cardboard box if I don't get a college degree.

Let me be to the first to tell you that there is no truth to that common belief. College might provide you with some options but it doesn't guarantee you anything. Actually not much in life is guaranteed. However college can allow you to get the credentials that you need to have for certain careers such as being a doctor, lawyer, nurse or teacher. College can provide the chance to meet people that can potentially be your friends for life and offers the opportunity for you to study subjects that you are passionate about. If any of these reasons are why you are attending then college can be a pleasurable experience.

Here is another part of the equation and it is a huge one. In fact it could be the determining factor in whether or not you decide to attend college.

HOW ARE YOU GOING TO PAY FOR IT?

Now some of you might have family members paying for you to attend. Consider yourself fortunate to some extent. Having someone pay your way is great but you are potentially missing out on the satisfaction that comes with the feeling of paying for it primarily on your own and not relying on family members help or handouts.

The feeling that you will get from knowing that you took on the momentous challenge of paying for a major life expense such as college will be amazing. You can take pride in the fact that you took responsibility and achieved paying for one of life's major purchases. You will become more accountable and responsible for your own life. You will develop the confidence that you know that you are control of your own life and destiny. This confidence can spill over into virtually every aspect of your life and you can accomplish great things.

Even if you have the option of your family paying for your education you should seriously consider using the strategies and tips in this book to save you a huge chunk of money. Plus your parents will thank you for it. Imagine saving them thousands of dollars that they can better use for their own lives.

Imagine if instead you told your family members or whoever was going to fit the bill for your college tuition to please save the money and put it away for their retirement, pay off the house, or take a vacation. Whatever the case maybe, the gift that you would give your loved ones by assuming responsibility of your life and college career will be one that they will never forget.

So what is one of the best ways to go from being at the mercy of paying for your education to being charge of your financial future as it pertains to college? You need to become an Education Outlaw.

    EDUCATION OUTLAW

As you will see throughout this book, an Education Outlaw is someone who doesn't like rules or how things are traditionally done. They do not care what their friends are doing in regards of how they are going about paying for college. They do not blindly accept that whatever those that have went before them or how others do things means that is what they have to do.

Instead Education Outlaws look for alternative and creative ways to get things accomplished while being financially savvy. They see college as a game that they play to win. They are constantly thinking of ways to accumulate as little college debt as possible while simultaneously finding ways to pay their tuition and save on their expenses while they are in college.

They do not want to live like every one else in that they accept that college will leave them with a mountain of student loan debt and settle without considering other ways to significantly reduce that amount. Education Outlaws want to keep as much of their money as possible. They enter college with a determination that they will not leave college with the staggering levels of debt that a good majority of college students leave with.

Every time someone says you need to do this or that Education Outlaws ask themselves Really? Let me think of some options of doing this or that. Or an expert tells them this is how it is done. Education Outlaws do not accept that. Instead they question it and see if they can come up with alternative ways to reach the same objective that is more beneficial to them. They don't settle for the status quo. And after some well thought out analysis they do what is best for their future and that which will provide them the most opportunities.

Some of you might already know some Education Outlaws and might envy some of the ways they avoid paying the full amount for their college education. If not this book will show you how to become a full fledged Education
