    Prologue

A child hasn’t been born in the world in 20 years. Humanity is dying off. No technology has been able to save mankind from the coming extinction. The only hope are androids with the capability of gestating human life; Repros. However, the droids were never approved for use because of 6 failed attempts which resulted in stillborn human children.

Of the 26 models of Repros manufactured, 24 were decommissioned and disassembled. Two were awoken. They ran.

    Droidkind

Sarah hadn’t been followed. Relief. Now what? The fastest way back to her apartment was on foot. No one was around. Rainy, dark, San Francisco. Three months to the day, first trimester completed. It was too late. She didn’t know what she was carrying. Not human, not droidkind. What?

I’ll keep the child she thought. I’ll keep it for two months and then leave it on a doorstep somewhere. That was the future, this is the present. Time will run out. She had maybe a week or so but she wasn’t sure.

More internal electrical impulses. Sarah was receiving another message from the child she carried.

    Off World

The Magellan Colony on Jupiter was Sarah’s only hope of escape. The ticket was more money then she had seen in her life. Being a surrogate provided her with the funds for nearly all of her journey, but she would need a bit more. Her belly wasn’t terribly large and she could work for the rest of cost. She knew of the pleasure models, prostitution had been legal for decades and Sarah was beautiful. Sex wasn’t ever something she thought about. She’s a machine, the best of the best, but a machine no less. Sex for Sarah was like the idea of a bowel movement, she had no interest nor was she programmed with the desire. She would comply but not enjoy. Even a non-pleasure model could perform for the enjoyment of a human, but never
