About this ebook

This heartwarming story reminds us how satisfying it is to grow up surrounded by love. I Can Do It Too! affirms a little girl's growing independence as she, too, can begin to do all the things she sees her parents, relatives and neighbors do: pouring juice at breakfast, strumming a guitar, and even riding a bike! The simple cadence of text and direct-to-the-heart art result in a book as warm and generous as its message, providing reading pleasure for toddlers, older siblings, and the grown-ups who love them.

This is a bright, colorful, and cheerfully illustrated children's book. It depicts a young girl learning to be independent as she is surrounded by the love and support of her family.

My favorite thing about this book is that it's a pretty standard cute kids book about trying to do grown-up things, it just happens to feature a family of color. No one mentions this, and there's nothing particularly "black" about the family. A great thing to integrate into a toddler story time so kids see different families reflected.

Encouraging book for toddlers and preschoolers. It narrates the attempts of a little girl at imitating her family members in their various activities.

It's a short book, easily understandable.

The sky is the limit, you can do it too! ;-)

    diverse picture/board book (getting older/independence, family; toddler/preschool 18 months-6 years)
    * Prominently features diverse characters: yes, a sweet African-American preschooler and her family (dad, mom, uncle, big sis, little brother, uncle) and friends (her best friend is white, her neighbor is black).
    * Great choice for toddler or preschool storytime: large, colorful pictures and short text that kids will relate to, plus a snappy refrain that encourages audience participation.
