Chapter One
If he hadn’t spotted the smartly dressed woman carrying a bulky black bag and behaving furtively, he wouldn’t have followed her around the side of the building. If he hadn’t followed her around the side of the building he wouldn’t have been accosted by the wild-haired lunatic holding a banner on which was written: ‘Mystic Magenta... Follow me for palm-reading, Tarot, and astrological predictions.’
Are you here for the auditions?
the apparition asked him in a cigarette and vodka drawl.
I might be...
He craned his neck, trying to see where shapely Miss Prim had gone, and then frowned, realizing Banner Lady was regarding him rather too closely.
You’ll do,
she approved, squinting her eyes to take a closer look at him. Follow the building around and take the third door on the right. There’s a room where you can wait. There’s a trash can too,
she added, casting a disapproving glance at his box of pizza.
Got to keep my strength up,
he explained with amusement, heading off.
She hummed as she gave him the once-over twice. I can see that.
How would you like me?
Jane asked politely, careful not to trip over her large zip-up bag as she edged away from the first guy to audition. He was starting to spook her. She must have been mad to offer to select men to service the needs of her friends in the recently founded Ladies club.
Naked.
I beg your pardon?
If he moved one step closer—
Naked,
he repeated.
But I’m supposed to be auditioning you.
There was nowhere else to go. She was already standing with her back to the wall
Strip—titillate me,
the man suggested with a lewd, gap-toothed grin. Then I’ll show you what I’ve got.
A shudder ripped through her. Years of perfecting the correct way to fold a towel, or standing on the freezing sideline at inter-school matches was hardly the best preparation for this type of selection process. But needs must when the devil drives, Jane reminded herself firmly, and every member of the Ladies Club had a devil driving them.
Introductions first?
she suggested, trying for pleasant and professional.
No,
the hulk growled, fingering the placket on his jeans.
And the club was her idea?
Proper research before hiring staff had seemed a good idea in theory. Having decided to make use of the empty timeshare units at the golf club for this project, Jane was fast discovering that finding suitable candidates to realize the wildest fantasies of frustrated women was not as easy as she had thought.
Remember ‘The Full Monte’?
her friend Jewel had prompted. We need to see their dicks. And then we need to find out if they can use them.
Sounds good to me,
she had blustered at the time.
Everything about her scheme had seemed good at the time.
Jane was the sensible one in her group of friends, which was why she had left the door open a crack now, and why Jewel was standing sentry, dressed as a fortune teller’s assistant, in case there was trouble, or anyone queried the sudden influx of bizarrely dressed hopefuls to the golf club boardroom. Fortunately, it was the holiday season and they always had entertainers at the annual golf club Christmas party. This year a poll of club members had revealed their preference for astrological readings, which had given Jane the perfect excuse to hold these auditions, and to put a small ad in the Personal column of the local newspaper. She had wanted to say: ‘Mature ladies seek kind men for non-threatening play, for which they are willing to pay a small fee...’ until Jewel had insisted that this would translate as: ‘Worn-out old slappers will pay for the pleasure of whipping the crap out of male subs’. In the end they had all agreed on Jane’s toned-down version: ‘Adventurous females seek big, handsome men, who do as they’re told for money’.
Take your underwear off and let’s get to it,
the current hopeful wheezed. I don’t have all day to waste.
Clearly. As he was already fondling himself through his jeans...
What was she doing here at all? She was happiest in the kitchen spreading butter on freshly baked scones—
