About this ebook

Allegra Fairweather here. Paranormal investigator. Got problems with specters? Shapeshifters? I'm the woman to call. Just don't call me a Ghostbuster. The last guy who did that ended up flat on his back with my boot at his throat.

With my 99.5% success rate, solving the mystery of a bleeding rose that has sprung up on the shores of Loch Furness should have been an easy gig. But already I've heard the shriek of the local banshee, discovered two bodies (and then lost two bodies), and had a near-death encounter with a three-hundred-year-old ghost. And perhaps most dangerous of all, the hot pub owner who hired me now wants to show me exactly what's under his kilt.

Luckily, I'm ably assisted by my very own guardian angel. I'm grateful for his helpbut he's also drop-dead gorgeous. A bit distracting when I've got a mystery to solve, and the clock is ticking...

Allegra has a guardian angel, she has named him after Casper the friendly ghost, but she can't get as friendly with him as she wants to, because he has to atone for his former life. Meanwhile, she solves paranormal mysteries both contemporary and historical. I cried at ending of the mystery because it returned the balance of good and evil. Hope this review will get you read this book you won't be sorry.

This book, with an eye-catching cover, got off to a bumpy start but about halfway through it picked up.

Allegra travels to Scotland when a Deddflower or Bleeding Rose, a harbinger of tragedy is found to be growing on the shore of a loch. She's called in to investigate in order to prevent whatever disaster is about to befall the small village.

Allegra was likeable but Casper the guardian angel stole the show. He's tortured soul and mystery man all rolled into one plus he's a golden hunk of a warrior trying to atone for his wicked past so he can get into heaven. What's not to love? Which is exactly Allegra's problem. Casper isn't allowed to fornicate. It's forbidden, part of his punishment for his sins against women in life. She has a hard time with this and even tries to spend time with an interested handsome man who also happens to be her employer on this case. The romantic element isn't resolved so perhaps there will be a sequel.

The plot wasn't as tight as I would've liked and as a result I lost interest a few times and put the book down a lot to begin with. There was also very little background on Allegra's life both personally and professionally. Casper was actually the most well-rounded character.

Overall, this was a light read with some interesting titbits of mythology and a nice little impossible romance.

a cute little debut about a paranormal investigator (duh!!) who has a real guardian angel. I like that she tries to find a real world answer for her mysteries before she looks for the paranormal answer. Of course, the story being what it is, the paranormal is the answer most of the time. A spunky heroine; a gorgeous, unattainable "sidekick" (the guardian angel); and a little bit of mystery. The recipe for an entertaining read. The second in this series is available, and will probably be on my Kindle before the night is over.

Allegra is a detective. A detective of paranormal happenings. Her most recent case takes her to Scotland where a bleeding rose has been discovered. While this may sound odd enough, we get to throw in a banshee, two dead bodies, a ghost, a shapeshifter, and Allegra's own guardian angel. At first I thought the author was going to have a hard time trying to tie all of these strange happenings up into one cohesive story, but she did an excellent job. I was surprised and excited at the events as Allegra hikes through the small village trying to do her job.Although initially pegged as a romance, there was not much of it to be found. While it was there, was not the main drive of the story and more of a pleasant background threading its way through. Again the characters were a bit stagnant (my biggest complaint of "romances"), but the plot made up for it quite a bit.4/5

Allegra Fairweather isn't your run-of-the-mill ghostbuster. In fact, if you call her that to her face, you had better be prepared to protect yourself from serious bodily harm. Standing well over 6 feet tall with short, spiky, bright red hair and a big toe that tingles when something paranormal is near, Allegra and her drop-dead-gorgeous guardian angel Casper chase down supernatural bad guys and solve paranormal mysteries all over the world. When Allegra gets a call to investigate the mysterious appearance of a Dedfield Rose, also known as the flower of death, near the shore of the small town of Loch Furness, Scotland, she hops on the next available flight to go investigate. Upon arrival, Allegra meets Douglas MacGregor, the town's innkeeper and the man who summoned her. Between periodically hearing a banshee's wail, finding (and then "misplacing") two dead men, fighting for her life against a 300-year old ghost and his imprudent human devotee, and trying to solve the mystery of the rose bush's existence, Allegra still manages to find a few spare moments to entertain Douglas' romantic overtures, alienate half the town's population, and hurt her guardian angel's feelings. This book started off a bit slow, and it took a while for the authour to set up the scene, introduce the characters, and really get into the action part of the story, but once it took off, it was worth the wait! As a reader who often finds herself figuring out the ending halfway through a book, I was pleasantly surprised to learn that I would not be figuring anything out ahead of time with this one! I enjoyed reading it to the very last page. I sincerely hope that this will end up being a "Book 1" of a series, also, because I would very much like to get to know Allegra and Casper better! I give Allegra Fairweather: Paranormal Investigator 4 stars!
