About this ebook

Healing is not about curing anything, but rather a journey into understanding the why of everything and, ultimately, the why of you. The Art of Energy Healing connects the spiritual with the practical along with explanations of what healing is really about, and how it affects you on a daily basis.

This series of nine books explains Energetic Dynamics, which encompass both the individual Human Energy System, like the chakras and Energy Field, along with an explanation of how energy connects and creates both the planet we live on and the Universe we live in.

This series begins with fundamental explanations of the Energy System and the levels of consciousness. Each book adds more information, from technical foundations, to more advanced and in-depth teachings about energy flow patterns, personal growth processes, group dynamics, working with children, working as a healer, Universal principles and individual evolution.

Everything in life has a meaning, everything. It is in learning to understand yourself at a deeper level that helps you to understand life at a deeper level. Your life is your teacher, and this series of books is just one of the many tools to help bring a little more clarity into understanding the lessons that life has to offer you.

The Art of Energy Healing Volume One The Foundation - Susan Diane Matz

    Preface

The information in this book is to help your mind grasp something that is not solid. It’s very real, just not solid in the way the word is often thought of. If someone were studying to be a surgeon, they would have a physical body to work with. Something solid that the hands can touch, the eyes can see and the mind can easily grasp. Energy Healing is a form of self-discovery and change that honors, but does not always work with, something that can be physically touched. This asks that a person be open to other types of perception.

Many people learn information through the power of thought. The mind is heavily emphasized in this country, but there are other ways to absorb knowledge. Emotion, sound and creative expression are just a few examples of alternative ways to learn and grow. Another modality is intuition. Intuition is the ability to have direct knowledge about something without the mental process of comprehending through reasoning and rationalization.

People are generally used to processing information through a standard three-dimensional format, but some habits are definitely ready to be broken. People are multi-layered, multi-dimensional Beings. We are wonderfully complex with many layers, well beyond the basic three that most people are used to working with.

Energy Healing also deals with the fact that there is more to a person than the five known senses of smell/taste/hearing/touch/ sight. Energy Healing encompasses things like the power of thought, emotion, feeling, intuition and spirituality.

Energy Healing is not about religion. It is about spirituality. Religion defines God. Spirituality is the concept of working with the essence of God without defining or confining God in a set of rules. Spirituality allows for each individual to define God through them- selves, not through an outside set of concepts and rules.

Before a person can really work in Energy Healing, they have to be able to understand who they are as an individual. You can Know another Human Being only to the degree that you can Know yourself. Self-exploration is the journey of any true healer and every person who seeks to be healed.

This is a two-book series. Volume I is an introduction to the levels of consciousness, the Energy System and general content related to Energy Healing. Volume II is a more in-depth explanation of what is introduced in Volume I as well as information on spiritual concepts and healing techniques. The information in both of these books is my perception of the healing process. In both Volumes, the focus is more on understanding your False Self than your True Self. This is because everyone’s Truth is individual. Once you peel away the layers of what is false, you’ll find your own Truth.

A healer is born from within. In order for anyone’s inner healer to emerge, self-exploration and training are part of the process. Healers aren’t special or gifted people. They’re just people, people who looked within and found out more about themselves than they could have ever understood with just their minds.

Here’s to your inner healer emerging.

    Energy Healing

Energy Healing is where science, medicine and spirituality all come together. Science works with molecular structure, medicine works with understanding and healing the physical body, and spirituality works with the power of God. Energy Healing combines all three of these components.

From a scientific standpoint, every substance is created from matter. Matter is created by molecular structures. Molecular structures can be broken down into molecules, and molecules can be broken down into atoms. Atoms themselves can be broken down into something smaller, but, to date, science has not been able to break down an atom far enough to discover what it’s actually made of. In other words, science has not yet found the source that creates all life. There are so many different theories in science, but one thing science can agree on is that when broken down, everything is pure energy.

Medicine sees the human body as a powerful, complex machine. Though much has been learned about the human body, there is still so much that medicine cannot explain. The term doctor has been around for a few thousand years but it has been loosely used. Formal medical schools did not come into play until the late 1700s in Europe and the 1800s in the U.S., but even then, in the U.S. a medical school in the early 1900s could have meant anything. Usually it meant chiropractic medicine (and not the chiropractic medicine of today.) It wasn’t until the mid-1900s that medical schools became a little more regulated and formalized. It’s been a rocky road for Western medicine but a very impressive one. When science and medicine came together, wonderful things happened, from the creation of pharmaceuticals to high-tech machinery that helps save lives on a daily basis in today’s hospitals.

When translated, the word healing means whole. This is exactly what healers work with, the whole person. Science works with the technicality, medicine works with the physicality, and Energy Healing deals with both, adding the element of spirituality. Healing is the definitive of the Mind-Body-Spirit connection. It is in the work of Energy Healing that all three are brought together.

Healers have been around for millions of years. Eastern cultures are the most prominent in having documented energetic pathways in the body for many centuries. The most commonly documented Eastern healing technique is Acupuncture. This is the art of placing very small needles directly into the energy pathways of a body in order to affect physical healing or to change an unhealthy pattern such as smoking. Energy Healing works with these same pathways, but uses both the client and the healer’s energy instead of acupuncture needles.

Energy Healing is another thread in our evolution. It is not meant to compete with medicine or science. It’s meant to add on. Initially medicine and science were two separate fields of study that did not necessarily see eye-to-eye with each other, but eventually they came together in a wonderfully symbiotic relationship. Energy Healing is just another layer to weave into this relationship. It adds spirituality into the mix. Science may not be able to prove what is the source of all cellular matter, all life, but healers don’t need that proof. Energy Healing works outside of the five basic senses and does not rely on standard scientific elements to prove its existence. Energy Healing works on the concept that if you could break down the atom far enough you would find that everything is created from spirit, more specifically God. Not God in the traditional ‘fire and brimstone’ religious connotation, but God as defined in terms of pure energy. God is called the Creator because God is pure creative energy. This means that everything: a chair, a window, a book, a pencil, a dog and a human being are all made out of the same energetic substance. If science were able to break everything down to its most basic component, it would find that all energy is created from the same source. In Energy Healing, this source is defined as God.

Energy Healing is not a religious debate. It’s not about religion at all, but rather spirituality. For people who are drawn to healing (whether as the healer or the client) there really is no question that God runs through everything. If someone is still questioning this concept, then they are generally not drawn to see a healer. They probably won’t be reading this book! When people hear the word God, it often kicks in pre-prejudicial religious teachings. The real definition of God is not found in a church, a book or a classroom, it is found in your heart. This may sound hokey, but it’s so true. Part of a healer’s job is to help a client connect into their heart. It’s at this level that the mind of Man meets the spirit of God. When this happens, each person can define God in their own way. A healer is not some spiritual guru (and if you run across one that says they are, you just might want to keep running!). And a healer is not there to tell you who and what you are. A healer’s job is to help you find out who you really are and let you define it for yourself. A true healer is a guide, not a dictator, and not someone running around claiming they have all your answers.

Traditionally, medicine focuses on diagnosing and curing illness. Medical science tends to see a disease as the enemy that needs to be killed. Energy Healing takes a different perspective because it sees illness/injury as the result of blocked energy in the physical body. The blocked areas are trying to get a message across to the person. Listen to your body is a very literal term in Energy Healing. An energy healer helps a client to connect and communicate with their own body so they can find that message.

The physical body is surrounded by an Energy Field also known as the aura. The Energy Field has seven layers to it, the first layer actually attaching into the physical body. The physical body is an amazing thing, but it is limited in how much information it can process on its own. The body is like a machine and tends to understand things in primitive ways like have cut, send white cells for healing. On its own, the body does not see the cut as anything more than a tear that needs repairing.

Many studies have been done on the effectiveness of placebos, and though the studies differ in why they think the placebos work, they do show that they work. Placebos are essentially fake pills (usually made of sugar) that are given to a patient instead of a real medication with nothing more than the suggestion that the pill will make them better. When the person swallows the pill, it goes through the digestive tract. The liver recognizes that the pill is just sugar, so why does it work?

The Energy Field adds the power of beliefs, spirituality and emotion into the mix. So whatever a person believes at the time they take the pill, their Energy Field absorbs this into the physical body and adds it to the many messages the liver is already receiving. The physical body may tell the liver this is pure sugar, but let’s says in this scenario, the person has a strong spiritual conviction and believes that God is taking care of them by lowering their blood pressure through this pill. The person’s spiritual belief gets sent to the liver through the Energy Field where the liver adds it to all of the other messages it’s getting. The liver then says, Okay, let’s send this pill along with the message that the blood pressure is to be lowered, even though the liver understands that biologically the pill is merely compressed sugar.

There are seven specific areas in the body where the Energy Field communicates directly with the physical body through something called a chakra. Inside a person’s physical body messages are sent through two main paths, the nervous system (which consists of your brain and spinal column) and the endocrine system (which regulates hormonal activity.) Both hormones and nerve endings give and receive tens of thousands of messages inside the body each day. They’re basically the human e-mail service. The Chakra System, which consists of seven different chakras, is the pathway that gives and receives messages between the Energy Field and the physical body. It’s the human brain that regulates the whole process. Information traveling inside your physical body is like having local e-mail service, and the Chakra System represents global e-mail service because it sends messages in and out of the body.

Your physical body is the only part of you limited to being three- dimensional. Your Energy Field consists of many more dimensions and sees life as having far more depth and meaning than just what appears on the surface. It’s at a level beyond the third dimension that illness/injury is seen as a message sent to help a person have a more in- depth understanding of both themselves and the life they are living. The focus in Energy Healing is not to cure a disease but rather to heal it. Healing deals with exploring and understanding why some- one gets sick to begin with and what that illness/injury is trying to help them understand about themselves. Healing works with the concept that nothing is random or an accident, that every event and illness in a person’s life has a deeper meaning behind it. And everyone’s meaning is unique to them. In other words, ten people diagnosed with the same type of diabetes will have ten different reasons behind why they developed diabetes. This is very different from traditional medicine which is built on categorizing all disease and injury into systematic modalities of treatment.

Energy Healing is not an exploration process that works by categorizing illness, or developing routine treatment plans. It is never the illness/injury that is the focus, but rather the person as a whole. What is that person’s spirit trying to get across to them? What is the bigger picture that created the illness/injury to begin with? Healing is not about curing, it is about evolving.

By the time someone is drawn to a reputable healer they are at a point in their personal growth where they want to understand themselves at a deeper level and are willing to see things about themselves (and their behavior) at a deeper level. There are plenty of unskilled, disreputable healers out there more than willing to tell a person they can cure anything for the right amount of money. But remember, there are just as many disreputable doctors out there willing to do things like write prescriptions for patients they’ve never even examined. Like anything in life, the more willing you are to take self-responsibility, the better choices you will make, like picking a good healer.

True healing is not a quick fix. . Healing requires that a client actively participate in their own process. The client has to be willing to look within and allow change to happen. When someone enters the journey that is Energy Healing, their life will change. You cannot possibly look deep within and not have your outer reality shift.

This is probably the biggest hurdle most people have to over-come. Often when a client starts seeing a healer, they are motivated to either heal a physical illness/injury or change their life in some way, like stopping a pattern of abusive relationships. Part of the client wants this change, or they wouldn’t pay good money to see a healer if they didn’t. But there is usually another part that is terrified of change, even if it means being completely healed of a serious illness. The part that doesn’t want to change has underlying motivations for staying ill or staying in a negative behavioral pattern. For most people, this part of their nature is unconscious. Everyone has a dark side to their psyche. This is why it is important to understand how your consciousness works when embarking on any spiritual or healing process. Anyone can read something in a book or learn something in a classroom, but it doesn’t mean that they really understand the true meaning of what they were taught. I have met many people who could expound on things like God, healing or chakras. They could quote
