About this ebook
The Amber Hot Sands is a fictional story that takes place in Pozzuoli during the reign of Emperor Titus (AD 80).
The writers each portray a single character in a first person account. The story shows the five days leading up to a fight in the Primus between the two characters, Gratianus (Roman) and Mathos (of the city, Carthage).
The Amber Hot Sands ends, ultimately, when the gruelling conflict comes to a bloody finish.

The Amber Hot Sands - Aron Montford
About the Authors
Aron Montford
Aron was born in the United Kingdom. He spent most of his younger life living in the town of Mansfield before spending the next few years moving around the country and living in cities and towns such as Birmingham and Great Yarmouth. At the age of 15 he returned to his hometown and still lives there to this day.
He had a passion for writing from a young age but never really capitalised on it until his later years. He spent a great deal of time writing a huge number of short stories but never bothered to publish them. He soon gave up the hobby entirely.
Throughout his second year at university, Aron decided it was time to bring out his love for penning stories once more.
This brings us to the present day. Aron is an average 21-year-old student. He works tirelessly; balancing university assignments, work and his hobby in the hope that one day writing could be his career.
He hopes very much that you enjoy this short story as much as he and Bobby enjoyed putting pen to (e-)paper.
In this mass of words, Aron will be writing from the point of view of Gratianus.

About the Authors
Bronson Gary – Single Part Contribution
Bronson loves owls (ovo). Hoot. When he isn’t looking over things that his friends make, he doubles as an illustrator and writer of his own works of fiction. Oh, and he does a few other things.
High school dilemma pulls him away from doing this kind of thing as much as he would like to. Being a high-schooler pins him down as the trio’s youngest member. Youngest and least experienced, so he says.
If there is one thing that he has in common with Aron and Bobby, it’s the passion for translating the madness that runs about his mind into a form better fit for others to understand. He is a founding member of CHALKboard Entertainment.
He will be writing from the perspective of Eva in the finale. A single part contribution.

Gratianus - Day One
Realisation
Few things are certain in life but in the arena a man knows his place. The gladiator understands that if he is to live he must slay his opponent and show no remorse – for if he does, that man will be little more than a helpless sack of flesh obscured by numerous weighty incisions. Executions should be stylish and the crowd must always be entertained. Break those rules and you’ll find yourself face-to-sand quicker than a sack of shit in Gaul.
You’d probably think I’m insane if I told you that I was formerly a Roman citizen – a free man – who became a gladiator. I chose this life. At first I thought it may have been to revel in glorious victory but oh how wrong I was.
The thrill of the kill is breathtaking when all goes well but it often doesn’t. The way the flesh becomes mangled upon contact with your sword - the swift discharge following the connection
