    The twelve-string guitar is an ideal instrument for exploring the unusual tuning schemes that this text describes as intervallic tunings. This slim volume, which will likely attract only a small number of novelty-seekers, proposes to sketch a few broad outlines for articulating a system of organizing intervallic tunings.

    The original intention of this volume was to document the specific set of intervallic tunings that form the compositional foundation of three of the author’s self-published releases, Nevada (2011), Motorcycle for Hire (2012), and The Wild Season (2014). In preparing the work, a brief history of intervallic tunings was deemed necessary.

    This volume is a provisional effort. It is the author’s intention at the time of writing that a second edition, as yet uncompleted, will expand upon this document and the ideas contained herein.
