Sea Bright - Holly Bianchi
Bright
INTRODUCTION
Sea Bright is a town that began as a fishermen’s village of Scandinavian immigrants and was known as Nauvoo. Later it became known as a seaside resort of the New Jersey shore, and it still remains today a popular seaside town.
Putting together Sea Bright was a gratifying experience both professionally and personally. Professionally I enjoyed collecting the images and other material from both Sea Bright residents and family members of those residents who once occupied this great seaside town. Personally all the happy memories of spending summers at my family’s summer home on Ocean Avenue came back to me: playing on the ocean beach on warm summer days and swimming in the river, whereupon my sisters and I would take the rowboat to the sandbar and enjoy walking on it. My father would take us on boat rides on his boat, which he docked in the water behind our house, along the beautiful Shrewsbury River, and on the Fourth of July, my sisters, cousins, and I would watch the fireworks and wave sparkles at the same time. There was amateur hour,
which was held outside our house where my sisters, cousins, and I would dress up in colorful costumes and give a performance. Mine was a star-spangled costume, and I would sing Mickey Mouse,
which came from the popular Mickey Mouse Mouseketeers television show. These glorious memories and the fantastic people of Sea Bright helped me relive them. Hopefully the reader will have the same experience in the following chapters to appreciate the magnificent seaside town of Sea
